Volos Football Club ( el, Π.Α.Ε. Νέος Ποδοσφαιρικός Σύλλογος Βόλου) is a Greek professional football club based in Volos, Magnesia, Greece. The club currently competes in the Super League, the first tier of football in Greece. Volos plays its home matches at the Panthessaliko Stadium. History After years of unsuccessful efforts and negotiations between the two older football clubs of Volos (Niki and Olympiakos) to be merged to create a strong football club for the city, finally in April 2017 discussions and efforts by Achilleas Beos, mayor of Volos, led to the creation of a new football club. Panthessaliko Stadium
The Panthessaliko Stadium is a stadium located at Volos, Greece. The stadium was the site of football (soccer) matches during the 2004 Summer Olympics. It was officially opened on July 30, 2004 and has a capacity of 22,700 seats, though only 21,100 seats were made publicly available for the Olympic matches. The Panthessaliko Stadium is the home stadium of the Volos N.F.C. who plays on the Super League Greece. It also hosted the 2017 Greek Football Cup Final, where PAOK defeated AEK 2–1. Christos Shelis ( el, Χρίστος Σιέλης, born 2 February 2000) is a Cypriot professional footballer who plays as a centre back for Greek Super League club Volos and the Cyprus national team.
