Volleyball World Grand Champions Cup
The FIVB Volleyball World Grand Champions Cup is an international volleyball competition contested by the senior men's and women's national teams of the members of ' (FIVB), the sport's global governing body. The tournament was created in 1993 after radical changes made on the biggest tournaments organised by the FIVB. The main goal was not to have a single year without two high-profile world-level volleyball competitions, alongside the pre-existing men's and women's world championship, men's and women's world cup and the volleyball tournament at the Olympic Games which are all quadrennial and the annual men's and women's Nations League. The World Grand Champions Cup is therefore played quadrennially the year after the Olympic Games and is always hosted by the Japan Volleyball Association. Italy Women's National Volleyball Team
The Italy women's national volleyball team is governed by the Federazione Italiana Pallavolo (FIPAV). The team's biggest victories were the gold medal at the 2002 FIVB Women's World Championship, being the first team to break the domination of Russia, Cuba, China and Japan, and the 2007 and the 2011 World Cup, winning 21 out of the 22 matches in both tournaments. 2017 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Grand Champions Cup
The 2017 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Grand Champions Cup was the 7th staging of the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Champions Cup, a quadrennial international men's volleyball tournament organized by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB). The tournament was held in Nagoya and Osaka, Japan from 12 to 17 September 2017. 6 national teams from 5 confederations competed in the tournament. Brazil claimed their fourth straight Grand Champions Cup title and fifth overall. Italy and Iran won the silver and the bronze medal respectively.
