Alicia Sanchez
Alicia Razo Juarez Sanchez (1926-1985) was a Latina activist who founded the Clinica Campesina (which became Clinica Family Health) in Lafayette, Colorado. Alicia Sanchez Elementary School in Lafayette is named after her. In 1977, she was named Boulder County Woman of the Year. Life and family Alicia Juarez Sanchez was born in 1926 and was a Lafayette resident and mother of seven children. She had lupus as a child, which left marks on her face. Harlan Cohen
Harlan Cohen (November 6, 1934 – March 19, 2020) was an American volleyball coach who led both the United States men's and women's national teams during the mid-1960s. As a player, Cohen was a member of Team USA's volleyball team at the 1965 Maccabiah Games in Israel, along with Gene Selznick, who had played on world championship teams. Cohen coached the men in 1966. He coached the women to a gold medal at the 1967 Pan American Games and a silver medal at the 1967 World Championships in Tokyo. He was head coach of the USA women's team for the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City. Cohen coached at Santa Monica College alongside Burt DeGroot from 1961 to 1972. Their teams won seven USA Volleyball (USVBA) college championships. He later was the head coach at Pepperdine University from 1975 to 1976 where his team won the USVBA championship in 1975. Mary Perry
Mary Margaret Perry (January 3, 1943 – June 3, 2012) was an American volleyball player. She competed at the 1964 and the 1968 Summer Olympics. She died at home of the rare disease, multiple system atrophy. Early life Perry was born in Burbank, California, in 1943. Her passion for volleyball began when she enrolled in Pierce Junior College and grew after she formed the South California volleyball team, the Renegades. Mary Jo Peppler
Mary Joan "Mary Jo" Peppler (born October 17, 1944) is a retired American volleyball player and coach. Peppler was inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame in 1990. She also played professional basketball with the New Jersey Gems of the Women's Professional Basketball League for one season. Early life Peppler was born in Rockford, Illinois. At the age of six she moved to Texas. She signed up for the Girls Athletic Association in the fourth grade; it was then that she learned of her love for volleyball. Peppler attended Sul Ross State and was a six time All-American. Coaching Peppler has coached (as the assistant or head coach) at Utah State, Florida, and Kentucky.
