Volcano Winery
Volcano Winery is one of three commercial wineries in the U.S. state of Hawaii, and the first winery founded on the Big Island of Hawaii in the town of Volcano, Hawaii, near the summit of the active shield volcano Kīlauea. It is the southernmost winery in the United States. The winery is located on a fault line that runs near Mauna Loa. History Volcano Winery was founded in 1986 by retired veterinarian Lynn “Doc” McKinney. The winery was sold in 1999 to Del Bothof, and the Bothof family still owns and runs the winery. The winery receives over 40,000 visitors a year. Wines Volcano winery makes several wines from the Symphony grape as well as fruit wines from and jaboticaba berries and guava fruit. The Symphony Mele wine won the gold medal at the 2004 Finger Lakes International Wine Competition in the Finger Lakes region, scoring higher than 3000 other wines in the competition. Jaboticaba
Jabuticaba is the edible fruit of the jabuticabeira (''Plinia cauliflora'') or Brazilian grapetree. The purplish-black, white-pulped fruit grows directly on the trunk of the tree. It is eaten raw or used to make jellies, jams, juice or wine. The tree, of the family Myrtaceae, is native to the states of Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Goiás and São Paulo in Brazil. Related species in the genus ''Myrciaria'', often referred to by the same common names, are native to Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Peru and Bolivia. Hawaii Wine
Hawaii wine refers to wine made in the U.S. state of Hawaii. The island of Maui is where the bulk of the state's wine is produced though there is some production on the island of Hawaii. The state mainly produces fruit wine such as a pineapple sparkling wine. In July 2021, the Ulupalakua AVA was designated on Maui, the first American Viticultural Area in Hawaii and the only outside of the contiguous United States. Grapes and wines The Symphony grape is the principal grape wine made in the state and produces an off-dry, fruity white wine. Guava

Symphony Grape
Olmo grapes are wine and table grape varieties produced by University of California, Davis viticulturist Dr. Harold Olmo. Over the course of his nearly 50-year career, Dr. Olmo bred a wide variety of both grapes by means of both crossing varieties from the same species or creating hybrid grapes from cultivars of different ''Vitis'' species. Over 30 new grape varieties were created by Dr. Olmo and introduced to the California wine and table grape industries. Ruby Cabernet Ruby Cabernet is the most notable and widely planted Olmo grape.
