Vojko Obersnel
Vojko Obersnel () (born 25 March 1957) is a Croatian politician who served as Mayor of Rijeka from 2000 to 2021. Early life Obersnel was born in Rijeka, where he went to the primary school and gymnasium. As he never attended kindergarten he spent a lot of time with his grandparents in Bribir. Obersnel started his education at the Slaviša Vajner Čiča elementary school, in third grade moved to Bobijevo elementary school, and ultimately to Vladimir Gortan elementary school. At the age of 15-16, Obersnel enjoyed TV program ''Kuda idu divlje svinje'', as well as comedies of Miodrag Petrović Čkalja and Mija Aleksić. His father born in Maribor, was a football player at NK Maribor. Vojko was strongly influenced by his partition in scouts movement. 2017 Rijeka Local Elections
The 2017 Rijeka local elections were held on 21 May and 4 June 2017 for the List of mayors of Rijeka, Mayor of Rijeka and members of the Rijeka city council. Vojko Obersnel, the 14th and incumbent mayor who has been in office since 2000, ran for a sixth consecutive four-year term, finishing in 1st place with 41,00% of the vote in the first round. However, as no candidate won an absolute majority of the vote in the first round, a second round of elections was held on 4 June 2017 between the two highest-ranked candidates in terms of popular vote: Vojko Obersnel of the Social Democratic Party of Croatia, and independent Hrvoje Burić . Obersenel defeated Burić by a wide margin in the run-off, taking 55,6% of the vote to Borić's 42,7%. Turnout in the election was 36,7% in the first round and 28,4% in the second round. 2013 Croatian Local Elections
The 2013 Croatian local elections were held on 19 May, with the second round held on 2 June where necessary. The elections were held to elect members of city councils, mayors, members of county councils and county prefects. The turnout was 47%, and 43% in the second round. Summary of mayoral results In Zagreb, populist right-wing and former Social Democrat Milan Bandić won 47.9% of the vote against Social Democrat Health Minister Rajko Ostojić's 22.7%. Bandic received a two-thirds majority in the second round. The incumbent mayor of Split, Željko Kerum, placed third with 18.54% of the vote and was eliminated from the second round which was narrowly won by the Socialist candidate Ivo Baldasar. The 2009 Croatian local elections were held on 17 May, with the second round held on 31 May where necessary. The elections elected a total of 866 members of county assemblies and 51 members of the City Assembly of the City of Zagreb, as well as 2,206 members of city councils and 5,343 municipal councils. A total of 2,982 candidate lists with 46,324 candidates were submitted for 21 county assemblies and the City Assembly of the City of Zagreb, as well as for 126 city councils and 429 municipal councils. Local elections were held in Croatia on 15 May 2005. This was fourth local elections in Croatian since independence. In the elections for the members of representative bodies of local and regional self-government units, the citizens of the Republic of Croatia elected 426 municipal and 123 city councils and members of 20 county assemblies and the Zagreb City Assembly at 6,589 polling stations in Croatia. The Seventh Government of the Republic of Croatia ( hr, Sedma Vlada Republike Hrvatske) was the first of two Croatian Government cabinets led by Prime Minister Ivica Račan. Ivica Račan
Ivica Račan (; 24 February 1944 – 29 April 2007) was a Croatian politician who served as Prime Minister of Croatia from 2000 to 2003, heading two centre-left coalition governments. Račan became the first prime minister of Croatia not to be a member of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), namely the opposition coalition headed by his Social Democratic Party (SDP) won the 2000 parliamentary election and came to power for the first time since independence.
