August Von Voit
Richard Jakob August von Voit (17 February 1801 in Wassertrüdingen – 12 December 1870 in Munich) was a German architect specializing in glass and iron structures. Notable projects Voit designed the city hall of Annweiler am Trifels (Rhineland-Palatinate) and the in Rhineland-Palatinate. He also designed two synagogues, one in Kirchheimbolanden in 1834, and another in Speyer in 1837. Von Voit also created the neo-Romanesque facade on St. Anna's, Lehel, which was destroyed during the war. 1846–1853 – Neue Pinakothek The Neue Pinakothek Art Museum was commissioned by Ludwig I of Bavaria and designed by Von Voit and Friedrich von Gärtner. The design of the structure was calculated to reinforce the similarity between the older and newer museums. As part of the design, Von Voit commissioned Wilhelm von Kaulbach to show the achievements of German art in mural form. Brigitte Voit
Brigitte Voit (born 1963 in Bayreuth) is a German chemist and professor of chemistry. She holds the chair Organic Chemistry of Polymers at the Faculty of Chemistry of the TU Dresden and is head of the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry at the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research ( IPF Dresden) in Dresden. From September 1, 2002 to July 31, 2022 she was also member of the Board of Management/CSO of the IPF Dresden. Academic career Voit studied chemistry at the University of Bayreuth (1982–1987) and was awarded her PhD with distinctions in 1990. During her PhD, she was a visiting researcher at the University of Arizona. Carl von Voit (31 October 1831 – 31 January 1908) was a German physiologist and dietitian. Biography Voit was born in Amberg, the son of August von Voit and Mathilde Burgett. From 1848 to 1854 he studied at the universities of Munich and Würzburg. At Munich, his teachers were Justus von Liebig and Max Joseph Pettenkofer, and at Würzburg, he was a pupil of Albert von Kölliker. In 1855 he furthered his education at the University of Göttingen under chemist Friedrich Wohler, and in 1856/57 served as an assistant to Theodor von Bischoff in Munich. Luke Voit
Louis Linwood Voit III (born February 13, 1991) is an American professional baseball first baseman who is a free agent. He has previously played in MLB for the New York Yankees, St. Louis Cardinals, San Diego Padres and Washington Nationals. Voit played college baseball for the Missouri State Bears and made his MLB debut in 2017 with the Cardinals. He played for them in 2018 before being traded to the Yankees during the season. By 2019, he became the Yankees' starting first baseman and in 2020, he led MLB in home runs. In August 2022, Voit was traded with several prospects to the Washington Nationals for Juan Soto and Josh Bell. Amateur career Voit attended Lafayette High School in Wildwood, Missouri. Otto Voit
Otto Emil Voit (February 5, 1845 – June 1, 1906) was a United States Army soldier and a recipient of America's highest military decoration—the Medal of Honor—for his actions in the Battle of the Little Bighorn. Biography Voit was a "saddler" (saddle-maker) with the U.S. Army. He joined the army from Louisville, Kentucky in December 1864. He deserted his unit at a Missouri River post on February 21, 1866, and subsequently reenlisted in Company H of George Armstrong Custer's Seventh Cavalry in December 1866 using the alias Frank May. On December 15, 1873, he surrendered as a deserter and received clemency by Presidential proclamation. Voit was wounded in the Reno-Benteen hilltop action at the Little Bighorn. He was issued the Medal of Honor on October 5, 1878, for his actions during the battle, specifically for providing covering fire for his comrades who went to get water for the wounded on June 25, 1876.
