Voices (American Band)
Voices was an American R&B vocal girl group from Los Angeles that was active during the late 1980s until the early 1990s. The group consisted of members Monique Wilson, Arike Rice, sisters LaPetra and LaToya McMoore, and then unknown twins Tia and Tamera Mowry. The group's only album, ''Just the Beginning...'' debuted in 1992 on Zoo Entertainment. The album featured Jo Marie Payton as a guest vocalist and Berry Gordy, Jr. was among the composers. ''Just the Beginning...'' features songs such as "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!" (the group's most successful single), "M.M.D.R.N.F. (My Mama Didn't Raise No Fool)", and "Cloudy with a Chance of Tears". The album was commercially unsuccessful. Arike Rice became a member of the group Before Dark eight years later. Tia and Tamera's mom Darlene removed the twins from the group after a disagreement with management. '' Voices '' is an initial 2007 compact disc by the University of Memphis Southern Comfort Jazz Orchestra recorded in the studio. This was their 1st full-length feature CD release since an LP recording under the direction of Gene Rush in 1987. Since the late 1960s this group has been consistently recognized as one of the top collegiate jazz ensembles in the country recently being invited to the 2011 Jazz Education Network Convention, the 2000 International Association for Jazz Education Convention, and touring Europe in 1998. Musicians from this CD went on to study with Bob Brookmeyer at the New England Conservatory of Music, Indiana University, work professionally, and teach at universities. Roger Eugene Eno (born in Woodbridge, England, in 1959) is an English ambient music composer. He is the brother of Brian Eno. Early life and education Roger Eno began euphonium lessons when he was 12 years old, and entered Colchester Institute to study music when he was 16. Upon graduating, and after a period of busking in London (where he briefly shared a house with artists Mark Wallinger and Andy Dog), Eno returned to Colchester to run a music therapy course at a local hospital for people with learning difficulties. Career In 1983, he had his first recording experience when he recorded the album ''Apollo'' with his brother Brian Eno and Canadian producer and musician Daniel Lanois at Lanois' Grant Avenue Studios in Hamilton, Ontario. ''Voices'' is the second and final studio album by American rock band Matchbook Romance. The album's sound leaves behind much of the stripped down sound of their debut, ''Stories and Alibis'', opting for a darker, more foreboding tone. The album was released through Epitaph Records on February 14 in the US. accompanied by the single "Monsters", and radio only single "Surrender". Background Vocalist Andrew Jordan adopts a much different vocal style for this record than their previous, bringing the band closer to the second-wave emo sound. The band chose to tune the all their guitars down half a step to help with the change. The cover of the album was designed by Shawn Harris from pop punk band The Matches. Inside the album's packaging is a small plastic panel, with alternating black and transparent strips. This panel can be aligned with parts of the album's artwork to reveal secret messages.
