Vohémar
Vohemar ( or ''Iharana'' ) is a coastal city and a municipality in northern Madagascar. It belongs to the district of Iharana, which is a part of Sava Region. It had a population of 22047 in 2018. In addition to primary schooling the town offers secondary education at both junior and senior levels. The town provides access to hospital services to its citizens. From the late medieval period, Northern Madagascar had a number of small and large trading towns ruled by Swahili merchants. Vohemar, one such town, was likely founded around the 13th Century as a Swahili trading port. Farming and raising livestock provides employment for 20% and 5% of the working population. The most important crop is cassava, while other important products are peanut, maize and rice. Industry and services provide employment for 20% and 45% of the population, respectively. Route Nationale 5a (Madagascar)
Route nationale 5a (RN 5a) is a secondary highway in Madagascar of 406 km, running from Ambilobe to Antalaha. It crosses the regions of Diana and Sava. The section from Ambilobe to Vohemar was completely unpaved and in very bad condition until 2020 when important road works had been undertaken. This part of the route had been paved in September 2022. From Vohemar to Antalaha the road is paved and in good condition. Sava Region
Sava is a Regions of Madagascar, region in northern Madagascar. Its capital is Sambava. Until 2009 Sava belonged to Antsiranana Province. The region is situated at the northern part of the east coast of Madagascar. It is bordered by the region Diana Region, Diana to the north, Sofia Region, Sofia to the west, and Analanjirofo to the south. As of 2018, its population was 1,123,013 and the total area is . The region contains wild areas such as Marojejy National Park.
