Paul Benjamin Vogt (16 May 1863 – 1 January 1947) was a Norway, Norwegian politician of the Conservative Party (Norway), Conservative Party who served as a member of the Council of State Division in Stockholm 1903–1904, Minister of Trade and Minister of Auditing 1904–1905. In 1905, he was Norway's emissary to Stockholm to negotiate Norwegian independence from Sweden. He also served as the Norway's Minister (diplomacy)#Ranks, minister in London 1910–1934. Personal life He was born in Kristiansand as a son of politician Niels Petersen Vogt (1817–1894) and Kaia Ancher Arntzen (1819–1870). Rochus Eugen (Robbie) Vogt (born December 21, 1929 in Neckarelz, Germany) is a German-American physicist, famous as the director and principal investigator of the LIGO project from 1987 to 1994. Biography Vogt studied from 1950 to 1952 at the University of Karlsruhe and from 1952 to 1953 at Heidelberg University. In 1953 he came to the United States. At the University of Chicago he graduated in physics with a master's degree in 1957 and a Ph.D. in 1961. Richard Carl "Dick" Vogt (August 06, 1949 – January 17, 2021) was an American herpetologist based in Brazil. He was the director of the ''Centro de Estudos de Quelônios da Amazônia'' (Center for the Study of Amazonian Turtles) at the National Institute of Amazonian Research (INPA). Career Vogt received his PhD in 1978 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, his dissertation focused on the systematics and ecology of the false map turtle (''Graptemys pseudogeographica''). The same year, he became a Postdoctoral Fellow at Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh. Marthe Louise Vogt (September 8, 1903 – September 9, 2003) was a German scientist recognized as one of the leading neuroscientists of the twentieth century. She is mainly remembered for her important contributions to the understanding of the role of neurotransmitters in the brain, especially epinephrine. Johan Herman Lie Vogt (14 October 18583 January 1932) was a Norwegian geologist and petrologist. Vogt was a professor at the University of Oslo and at the Norwegian Institute of Technology. Biography Vogt was born in Tvedestrand, Norway. He was a son of physician Olaus Fredrik Sand Vogt and Mathilde Eliza Lie. He was the nephew of mathematician Sophus Lie (1842–1899). Psychiatrist Ragnar Vogt (1870-1943) was a younger brother. Vogt studied at the Technical Institute in Dresden and in 1880 graduated from the University of Christiania (now University of Oslo). Hans Kamstrup Vogt (1 June 1903 – 25 September 1986) was a Norwegian linguist who specialized in the Caucasian languages, especially Georgian. He also did significant early work on the Kalispel language and produced an interesting dictionary of the Ubykh language. He was a member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters since 1937, the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters from 1957 and of the Norwegian Academy for Language and Literature from 1971. He was an honorary member of the Linguistic Society of America, the Societas Caucasologica Europaea and the Georgian Academy of Languages. Erich Wolfgang Vogt, (November 12, 1929 - February 19, 2014) was a Canadian physicist. Born into a pacifist Mennonite family in Steinbach, Manitoba Vogt received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1951 and a Master of Science degree in 1952 from the University of Manitoba. He received a Ph.D. from Princeton University in 1955 under the direction of Eugene Wigner. In 1965, he started teaching at the University of British Columbia. From 1975 to 1981, he was the Vice President (Faculty & Student Affairs). He retired in 1994, although he came back in 2000 to teach several 100 level physics courses. He is best known as one of the founders of TRIUMF, Canada's national laboratory of nuclear and particle physics, which utilizes a particle accelerator, located on the University of British Columbia. August Christoph Carl Vogt (; 5 July 18175 May 1895) was a German scientist, philosopher, popularizer of science, and politician who emigrated to Switzerland. Vogt published a number of notable works on zoology, geology and physiology. All his life he was engaged in politics, in the German Frankfurt Parliament of 1848–49 and later in Switzerland.
