Vlorë District
Vlorë District ( sq, Rrethi i Vlorës) was one of the 36 districts of Albania, which were dissolved in July 2000 and replaced by 12 newly created Counties of Albania, counties. It had a population of 147,267 in 2001, and an area of . It is in the south-west of the country, and its capital was the city of Vlorë. Its territory is now part of Vlorë County: the Municipalities of Albania, municipalities of Vlorë, Selenicë and Himara (partly). Its population included a Greeks, Greek minority. Vlorë
Vlorë ( , ; sq-definite, Vlora) is the third most populous city of the Republic of Albania and seat of Vlorë County and Vlorë Municipality. Located in southwestern Albania, Vlorë sprawls on the Bay of Vlorë and is surrounded by the foothills of the Ceraunian Mountains along the Albanian Adriatic and Ionian Sea Coasts. It experiences a Mediterranean climate, which is affected by the Ceraunian Mountains and the proximity to the Mediterranean Sea. Vlorë was founded as Aulon as an Ancient Greek colony on the Illyrian coast and was conquered at different periods throughout history by Romans, Byzantines, Normans, Venetians and Ottomans. Orikum
Orikum or Pashaliman is a town and a former municipality in Vlorë County, southwestern Albania. At the 2015 local government reform it became a subdivision of the municipality Vlorë. It was named after the ancient city Oricum, which was located 4 km west of modern Orikum. Kocul is a village in the Vlorë County in southern Albania. It was part of the former municipality of Vllahinë. Nartë
Nartë ( sq-definite, Narta; el, Νάρτα, also Άρτα, ''Arta'' or Παλαιοάρτα, ''Palioarta'') is a community in Vlorë County. At the 2015 local government reform it became part of the municipality Vlorë. It is situated northwest of the city of Vlorë. It is predominantly inhabited by ethnic Greeks who speak a unique northern Greek dialect, as well as Albanian. Etymology There is no convincing origin for the name of the settlement. Doris Kyriazis argues that the toponym ''Narta'' derives from Slavic and means 'summit', 'cape'. Synonymous toponyms are also found in various locations in the Slavic world. According to this view, from Slavic it would have been transmitted into Greek Άρτα and Albanian Nartë. Kyriazis also states that the prefix n- comes possibly from the Greek language through the evolution 'tin Arta' -> 'ti Narta' -> 'Narta' and was used as a loan in the Albanian language. Dhërmi
Dhërmi ( sq-definite, Dhërmiu; el, Δρυμάδες, ''Drymádes'') is a village in Vlorë County, Albania. It is part of the municipality of Himarë. The village lies 42 kilometers south of the city of Vlorë and about the same distance north of the southern city of Sarandë. It is built on a slope of the Ceraunian Mountains at approximately 200 meters in altitude, and comprises three neighborhoods: Gjilek, Kondraq, Kallami, and Dhërmi itself. The mountains descend to the southwest into the Ionian coast and Corfu in the distance to the south. Nearby is the village of Palasë.
