Vleeshal Middelburg
Vleeshal Center for Contemporary Art organises exhibitions of contemporary art and an accompanying public program at Vleeshal in Middelburg, the Netherlands. Vleeshal resides in Middelburg's former town hall, on the market square. Characterized by its distinct Gothic architecture, Vleeshal is a unique space. The venue has inspired many artists to create extraordinary exhibitions, bringing Vleeshal international renown. Under the directorship of the current director Roos Gortzak, artists such as Cally Spooner, Ola Vasiljeva, Simone Forti, Andrea Éva Györi, Matthew Lutz-Kinoy and Paul Maheke have developed new works. Until recently, Vleeshal also organised exhibitions in a second exhibition space: Vleeshal Zusterstraat. As a result of municipal cutbacks, Vleeshal Zusterstraat closed on October 1, 2017. Pipilotti Elisabeth Rist (born 21 June 1962) is a Swiss visual artist best known for creating experimental video art and installation art. Her work is often described as surreal, intimate, abstract art, having a preoccupation with the female body. Her artwork is often categorized as feminist art. Jef Geys
Jef Geys (29 May 1934 – 12 February 2018) was a Belgian artist born in Leopoldsburg, Belgium. Geys is known for his photography, painting, sculpture, films, installation art, publishing activities, and experimentation in art education. Geys grew up in Faytlaan, Leopoldsburg and attended school at the Brothers of Love. He studied in the Academy of Antwerp under Piet Serneels, Maclot, Dolphyn and Strebelle, then gained a teaching diploma from the state school of Hasselt before starting work teaching in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert. In 1960, Geys was an appointed Teacher of Positive Aesthetics at a children's school in Balen until he left the position in 1989. Bernadette Corporation is a New York City and Paris-based art and fashion collective founded in 1994. Core members include Bernadette van Huy, John Kelsey (artist), John Kelsey, and Antek Walzcak. Laure Prouvost (born 1978) is a France, French artist living and working in Antwerp, Belgium. She won the 2013 Turner Prize. In 2019, she French pavilion, represented France at the Venice Biennale with the multi-media work "The Deep Blue Sea Surrounding You". Katja Novitskova (born 1984 in Tallinn, Estonia) is an Estonian installation artist. She lives and works in Amsterdam and Berlin. Her work focuses on issues of technology, evolutionary processes, digital imagery and corporate aesthetics. Moyra Davey (born 1958) is an artist based in New York City. Davey works across photography, video, and writing. Early life Moyra Davey was born in 1958 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Amanda Ross-Ho (born 1975) is an artist based in Los Angeles that works in painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, photography and uses found objects. Serge Alexandrovich Tcherepnin (russian: Серге́й Александрович Черепнин; born 2 February 1941) is a Russian-American composer and electronic-instrument builder of Russian-Chinese parentage. Tcherepnin is noted for creating the Serge Modular synthesizer. Biography Serge Tcherepnin was born in Issy-les-Moulineaux, near Paris, the son of composer Aleksandr Nikolayevich Tcherepnin and grandson of composer Nikolai Nikolayevich Tcherepnin.
