The ''Atlantis'' was the first successful Greek language daily newspaper published in the United States. The newspaper was founded in 1894 by Solon J. and Demetrius J. Vlasto, descendants of the Greek noble family, Vlasto.Magny, Claude Drigon. ''Livre D'or De La Noblesse Européenne'', Ed. 2. Paris: Aubry, 1856, pg. 441. The paper was headed by a member of the Vlasto family until it closed in 1973. Published in New York City, it had a national circulation and influence. Chris J. Vlasto (born October 27, 1966) is Senior Executive Producer of Investigations at ABC-TV News. He is also Co-host of "The Investigation" podcast. He was executive producer of Good Morning America. Prior to that, he was a senior producer at ABC News ''20/20'' and senior producer of the Law and Justice unit. Before that he was a senior Broadcast Producer of Good Morning America where he won three Emmy Awards for ''Outstanding Morning Program''. He is the son of James Vlasto, former Press Secretary to the New York Governor Hugh Carey and his half brother, Josh Vlasto is currently the Deputy Communications Director to Governor Andrew Cuomo. Julie Vlasto
Pénélope Julie "Diddie" Vlasto Serpieri (; 8 August 1903 – 2 March 1985) was a female tennis player from France. She won the silver medal at the Paris Olympics in 1924 in women's singles, losing the final to Helen Wills Moody. Vlasto also won the version of the French national championships in 1924 that was open only to French nationals. She was a doubles partner of Suzanne Lenglen in many doubles tournaments during the early 1920s. She was born as Pénélope Julie Vlasto on 8 August 1903, in Marseille, France. Dominique Vlasto (born 14 August 1946 in Marseille) is a French politician who served as a Member of the European Parliament from 2000 until 2014. She is a member of the Union for a Popular Movement, which is part of the European People's Party. In parliament, Vlasto served on the European Parliament's Committee on Industry, Research and Energy. She was also a substitute for the Committee on Transport and Tourism, and a member of the delegation to the Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly.
