Aurel Vlaicu
Aurel Vlaicu (; 19 November 1882 – 13 September 1913) was a Romanian engineer, inventor, airplane constructor and early pilot.Gheorghiu, 1960 Early years and education Aurel Vlaicu was born in the village of Binținți in Transylvania, Austria-Hungary. In 1925, by then part of Romania, it was renamed ''Aurel Vlaicu'', and is now part of Geoagiu town. He attended a Calvinist high school in Orăștie (renamed Aurel Vlaicu High School in his honor in 1919) and took his Baccalaureate in Sibiu in 1902. He was a high school colleague of Petru Groza, and in Sibiu became friends with Octavian Goga. Vlaicu furthered his studies at Technical University of Budapest and Technische Hochschule München in Germany, earning his engineer's diploma in 1907. Between 1907 and 1908 Vlaicu served in the Austro-Hungarian Navy, and on September 1, 1908, he took an engineer's position with the Opel car factory in Rüsselsheim. Florin Vlaicu
Florin Vlaicu (born 26 July 1986 in Bucharest) is a former Romanian rugby union player. He played as a fly half or centre for professional Liga Națională de Rugby club SCM Timișoara. He could also play as a fullback, thus being considered a utility back due to his versatility. He is Romania's all time leading point scorer and the most capped player. Club career Junior years Vlaicu started playing rugby at RC Flamingo București, an amateur rugby club that recruited schoolboys suited for the sport. He then moved to local club RC Grivița București, where he continued his junior years. Senior years After finishing his junior career he joined local giants Steaua. After 8 seasons with Steaua, with a brief stint with RCM Timișoara for whom he played one single match in 2011, he was signed in early 2014 by RCJ Farul Constanța, where he played for the whole season. Sorin Vlaicu (born 3 May 1965) is a retired Romanian international footballer. Club career He started his career in 1987 in Politehnica Timișoara, where he spent most of his career. Soon he began to show himself as a very strong offensive midfielder. After becoming an international player, he was brought in 1992 by the 1991 European Champions Red Star Belgrade from Yugoslavia. In 1993, he returned to Timișoara where he continued playing until January 1995, when he moved to Hungary to play with Békéscsaba Elöre, where he played until January 1996. Since then, he has been the pillar of the Politehnica Timișoara team, having, in total, played an impressive 288 games, and scored 29 goals. Vlaicu Victor Virgil Bârna (December 4, 1913 – March 11, 1999) was an Austro-Hungarian-born Romanian poet. Born in Crișan, Hunedoara County, in the Transylvania region, his parents Ion Bârna and Maria (''née'' Pavel) were peasants. After graduating from Avram Iancu High School in Brad in 1932, he entered the literature and philosophy faculty of Bucharest University, earning his degree in 1936. He was editing secretary for ''Azi'' magazine and editor at ''Rampa'' and ''România'' (under Cezar Petrescu's direction in 1938–1939) and at the daily ''Ardealul''. From 1941 to 1947, he was press representative at the Propaganda Ministry and the Foreign Ministry. Under the Communist regime, he was editor at Editura de Stat pentru Literatură și Artă from (1949–1951), literary adviser at Radiodifuziunea română (1951–1966), editor at ''Viața Românească'' (1968–1974) and literary secretary of the Romanian Writers' Union (1972–1976).
