Vladimir Kovačević (businessman)
Vladimir Kovačević ( sr-Cyrl, Владимир Ковачевић) is a Serbian businessman and politician. A former high-ranking member of the People's Party (Narodna), he is now the president of Nova–D2SP. Business career Kovačević owns multiple companies and three factories in the pharmaceutical and textile industries. Political career Kovačević was a high-ranking member of the People's Party (Narodna) and the president of its economy and entrepreneurship board. He left Narodna in October 2021, citing the failure to highlight economic issues and problems. Kovačević criticised Narodna's leader Vuk Jeremić. In December 2021, he founded Experts Should Have A Say (D2SP) political organisation. In July 2022, D2SP merged with the New Party (Nova), forming the Nova-D2SP political party with Kovačević being elected president of the party. People's Party (Serbia, 2017)
The People's Party ( sr-cyrl, Народна странка, Narodna stranka, Narodna) is a centre-right political party in Serbia. History After his unsuccessful bid in an attempt to replace Ban Ki-Moon as UN Secretary-General in the end of 2016, Vuk Jeremić returned to Serbia, where he enjoyed relatively high approval ratings compared to other opposition politicians. He decided to run for president in 2017 presidential election, declining the option to support Saša Janković, who by then managed to gather a number of parties' support. Although many thought that opposition would have better chances against Vučić if united and considered Janković a better option for a single opposition presidential candidate, Jeremić announced his candidacy nevertheless. He finished fourth, with little less than 6% of the vote. In the aftermath of the election though his results were quite disappointing, he announced he will form a party.
