Vlada Chigireva
Vlada Alexandrovna Chigireva ( rus, Влада Александровна Чигирёва, , ˈvladə ɐlʲɪkˈsandrəvnə tɕɪɡʲɪˈrʲɵvə; born 18 December 1994) is a Russian competitor in synchronised swimming. Chigireva won six gold medals at World Aquatics Championships: three in 2013 and three in 2015. She was also the solo and team champion in both the 2010 and the 2012 FINA World Junior Synchronised Swimming Championships. She also won a gold medal at the 2014 European Aquatics Championships, as well as two gold medals at the 2013 Summer Universiade. She missed the 2018 European Championships due to a knee injury in 2017 that required surgery. Chigireva spent much time in a pool since early age, as her mother is a swimming coach, and took up swimming aged five. Synchronised Swimming
Synchronized swimming (in British English, synchronised swimming) or artistic swimming is a sport where swimmers perform a synchronized choreographed routine, accompanied by music. The sport is governed internationally by FINA (the ''Fédération internationale de natation'' or International Swimming Federation). It is traditionally a women's sport, although FINA introduced a new mixed gender duet competition that included one male swimmer in each duet at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships and LEN introduced men's individual events at the 2022 European Aquatics Championships. The 2016 European Aquatics Championships took place from 9 to 22 May 2016 in London, United Kingdom, in the London Aquatics Centre. The 2014 European Aquatics Championships took place from 13 to 24 August 2014 in Berlin, Germany. LEN European Aquatics Championships
The European Aquatics Championships is the continental Aquatics championship for Europe, which is organised by LEN—the governing body for aquatics in Europe. The Championships are currently held every two years (in even years); and since 2022, they have included 5 aquatics disciplines: Swimming (long course/50m pool), Diving, Synchronised swimming, Open water swimming and High diving. Prior to 1999, the championships also included Water polo, which beginning in 1999 LEN split-off into a separate championships. The open water events are not held during the Olympic year. The Championships are generally held over a two-week time-period in mid-to-late Summer; however, in the most recent Summer Olympics years (2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020), the Championships were moved to the Spring to be moved away from the Summer Olympic Games.
