Vjekoslav Spinčić
Vjekoslav Spinčić (23 October 1848 – 27 May 1933) was a Croats, Croatian politician from Istria. Born in Spinčići near Kastav, he studied theology in Gorizia and Trieste, and was ordained a priest in 1872. Afterwards, he continued studies in history and geography in Prague and Vienna. He worked as a teacher in Koper, and later in Gorizia. In 1892, after saying Istria belongs to Croatia while in Zagreb, he was fired from his job in Gorizia. Along with Matko Mandić and Matko Laginja, he was one of the most influential Croatian politicians in Istria at the time, a member of the Party of Rights (1861–1929), Party of Rights. He served in the Imperial Council (Austria), Imperial Council multiple times. At the Unveiling of the Gundulić monument in Dubrovnik, Spinčić arrived as the highest ranking Croatian politician from Istria and laid a wreath as its representative. Unveiling Of The Gundulić Monument
The unveiling of the Gundulić monument in Dubrovnik on May 20, 1893, was a symbolical event in the political history of Dubrovnik, since it brought to the surface the wider tensions between the two political sides of the city, the Croats and the Serb-Catholics in the pre-World War I political struggles in the region. The preparation At its session of March 9, 1880, the Municipal Council of Dubrovnik adopted the proposition received from the "Dubrovnik Youth", an organization known as part of the Serb-Catholic movement in Dubrovnik, to raise a monument for the 300th anniversary of the birth of Gundulić in 1888. Sušak, Rijeka
Sušak (in Italian ''Sussak'') is a part of the city of Rijeka in Croatia, where it composes the eastern part of the city, separated from the city center by the Rječina river, which in former times served as an international border. Notable features of Sušak include the public beaches at Pećina and Glavanovo, along with the Tower Center shopping mall. History Under the Habsburg monarchy, Rijeka and the surrounding area technically belonged to the Hungarian half of the Monarchy. Sušak was a municipality separate from the city of Rijeka and since the nineteenth century it experienced faster urbanisation and population growth. In 1924, Rijeka belonged to the independent Free State of Fiume, which had been created four years earlier under the Treaty of Rapallo, but in the Treaty of Rome the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes and Italy agreed to dissolve the free state.
