Vivre (Guy Bonnet Song)
France was represented by Guy Bonnet, with the song "Vivre", at the 1983 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 23 April in Munich. Bonnet had previously represented France in the 1970 contest in Amsterdam. Before Eurovision National final Broadcaster Antenne 2 took over responsibility for French Eurovision participation in 1983, after the country had been absent from the 1982 contest when previous broadcaster TF1 opted out, citing the facile nature of the music on offer in Eurovision as they perceived it. Antenne 2 decided to choose their first entry via a broadcast national final. The national final was held on 20 March 1983, hosted by Jean-Pierre Foucault and 1977 contest winner Marie Myriam. Fourteen songs took part with the winner chosen by a panel of TV viewers who were telephoned and asked to vote on the songs. Guy Bonnet
Guy Bonnet is an author, composer, and singer, born in Avignon, France in 1945. He wrote the lyrics and composed the music for the French entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1968 (performed by Isabelle Aubret). In 1970 he participated in the Eurovision song contest for France with "Marie-Blanche" coming 4th out of twelve contestants. In 1983 he represented France in Eurovision again with " Vivre" (finishing eighth). He wrote and composed songs for many artists including Mireille Mathieu, Sylvie Vartan, Franck Fernandel and Massilia Sound System Massilia Sound System is a reggae band formed in Marseille, France, in 1984. Ilana Avital ( he, אילנה אביטל; born February 18, 1960) is an Israeli singer and actress. She also gained fame internationally, known as Lena and Sandy Miller. Biography Avital was born in Paris, France as Brigitte Abitbol in a family of Tunisian Jewish origin. When she was 11 she immigrated to Israel with her family. At 13, she was signed to a major French record company. In 1977, she took part in the Israel Song Festival with "אותך" (Otcha, meaning You) when she was just 17. La Compagnie Créole is a popular French pop band from French Guiana and the French West Indies, founded in the 1970's. They originally started singing in Creole but quickly adopted French as their main language. They are known mostly for the feel-good and happy-go-lucky quality reverberating in all of their songs: popular themes and imagery include colorful rainbows, sunshine, music and harmless animals as a positive morale booster all set to Caribbean rhythms. Jean-Paul Cara (born 9 September 1948, Montpellier) is a French singer and composer. He has authored several songs that have won prizes at the Eurovision contest, most notably the single '' L'Oiseau et l'Enfant'' in collaboration with Joe Gracy and performed by Marie Myriam (1st place for France, 1977 Eurovision Song Contest). Jean-Marc Monnerville (born 21 February 1959), better known by his stage name Kali, is a French musician from Martinique known for his contributions to Modern Zouk, banjo playing and his work with the Eurovision Song Contest. He is further notable for his often controversial, politically charged lyrics comment on imperialism, slavery and military proliferation. Jean-Luc Potaux (born Richard-Jacques Bonay on 16 February 1950), known as Joël Prévost, is a French singer, best known for his participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 1978. Born in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France, Prévost was adopted soon after birth by a family from northern France who changed his name, and grew up at Trith-Saint-Léger, close to the border with Belgium.
