Viva La Revolution (album)
''Viva la Revolution'' is the third full-length album by Dragon Ash, released in 1999. It is the first full-length album after Dragon Ash member DJ BOTS formally joined, creating the new hip hop/rock amalgamation sound for which they have since become known. It has been described as "the album where Kenji's polyphagia has been expressed best." The song "Communication" is a new version of " I Love Hip Hop" with a different backing track and vocals to avoid copyright infringement of "I Love Rock 'n' Roll." Grateful Days
"Grateful Days" is the fourth maxi single by Japanese group Dragon Ash, released in 1999. It was released on the same day as " I Love Hip Hop", and both singles quickly gained popularity in Japan. The title track, "Grateful Days", samples the opening of "Today" by The Smashing Pumpkins and features fellow Japanese hip hop artist Zeebra and "The Queen of Japanese Lady Soul" Aco. The song quickly became a huge hit in Japan, reaching No. 1 on the Oricon charts, and remains a favorite among Dragon Ash fans. A dragon is a reptilian legendary creature that appears in the folklore of many cultures worldwide. "Today" is a song by American alternative rock band the Smashing Pumpkins, written by lead vocalist and guitarist Billy Corgan. The song, though seemingly upbeat, contains dark lyrics; Corgan wrote the song about a day in which he was having suicidal thoughts. The contrast between the grim subject matter of the song and the soft instrumental part during the verses, coupled with use of irony in the lyrics, left many listeners unaware of the song's tale of depression and desperation. The song alternates between quiet, dreamy verses and loud choruses with layered, distorted guitar. Tin Star (band)
Tin Star were a British electronica band formed in 1996. Dave Tomlinson and Tim Bricheno were formerly in the Band X-CNN together in the early 1990s. History Tomlinson and Bricheno were discussing their musical future together in a London pub. Their conversation was overheard by Tim Gordine who introduced himself and they formed the band together. The group signed to V2 Records and released their debut album, ''The Thrill Kisser'', in 1999. The album had been recorded in Gordine's apartment in London and the restricted space meant the group adapted to using machines rather than a drum kit. Isaac Lee Hayes Jr. (August 20, 1942 – August 10, 2008) was an American singer, actor, songwriter, and composer. Funky 4 + 1 was an American hip hop group from The Bronx, New York, composed of Jazzy Jeff, Sharon Green, D.J. Breakout, Guy Williams, Keith Keith, The Voice of K.K. and Rodney Stone. Joshua Paul Davis (born June 29, 1972), better known by his stage name DJ Shadow, is an American DJ, songwriter and record producer.
