Def Leppard
Def Leppard are an English rock band formed in 1976 in Sheffield. Since 1992, the band has consisted of Rick Savage (bass, backing vocals), Joe Elliott (lead vocals), Rick Allen (drums, backing vocals), Phil Collen (guitar, backing vocals), and Vivian Campbell (guitar, backing vocals). They established themselves as part of the new wave of British heavy metal movement of the early 1980s. The band's greatest commercial success came between the early 1980s and the early 1990s. Their first album, 1980's '' On Through the Night'', reached the Top 15 in the UK but received little notice elsewhere. Their second album, 1981's ''High 'n' Dry'', was produced by Mutt Lange, who helped them begin to define their melodic hard rock style, and the album's most popular track " Bringin' On the Heartbreak" became one of the first rock videos played on MTV in 1982, but the album only reached the Top 30 and 40 in the UK and US. Def Leppard's next studio album, '' Pyromania'', was released ...

Make Love Like A Man
"Make Love Like a Man" is a 1992 single by English hard rock band Def Leppard from their multi-platinum album '' Adrenalize''. The song reached No. 3 on the Album Rock Tracks chart and No. 36 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart in the United States. Background In a Joe Elliott statement on the ''Vault'' compilation album, he stated that this song was not about Def Leppard trying to be "MACHO", and were just trying to be funny about the content of this song. The statement only appears on the UK version of ''Vault'', as the track is not included on the American version. Elliott made a similar note in the album booklet for the later ''Best Of'' compilation, joking that "everyone thought we were turning into Manowar" and explaining that the band had come to terms with the then-recent death of guitarist Steve Clark on the album track "White Lightning" and wanted to have a lighter song on the album. Elliott once said that he would rather not play this song live any more as the ly ...

Love Bites (Def Leppard Song)
"Love Bites" is a song by English glam metal band Def Leppard from their album ''Hysteria''. The power ballad is Def Leppard's only number-one single and penultimate top ten hit on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and became a top-10 hit in Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand. On the UK Singles Chart, the track peaked at number 11. Song history and composition When Robert John "Mutt" Lange originally brought the song to the band's attention, it was a country ballad, which the band thought sounded like nothing they had done before. The band then added power rock elements and emotive backing vocals similar to those used in R&B ballads at the time. The title "Love Bites" was originally used for a very different song that was eventually re-titled "I Wanna Be Your Hero", and which appeared as a ''Hysteria'' B-side and later on the album ''Retro Active''. Musically, the song has been described as glam metal, and is considered a classic of the genre. Following the huge momentum generated by ...

Animal (Def Leppard Song)
"Animal" is a song recorded by English rock band Def Leppard in 1987 from the album '' Hysteria''. It was the first single release off the album, and became the band's first Top 10 hit in their native UK, reaching No. 6 on the UK Singles Chart. Recording "Animal" is usually noted by the band as having been the most difficult track to record for ''Hysteria''. It was one of the first songs developed in early 1984, but neither the band nor successive producers Jim Steinman, Nigel Green and Robert John "Mutt" Lange were able to produce the desired sound until two and a half painstaking years later. It was the only ''Hysteria'' track demoed by Rick Allen on an acoustic drum kit prior to his car accident; the drummer having recorded a beat for the song on a four-track tape during early sessions. A later studio version, tracked to a drum machine, remained largely the same as the earlier demo, which the band felt was starting to sound dated, until Joe Elliot recorded a lead vocal ove ...

Rocket (Def Leppard Song)
"Rocket" is a song recorded by English rock band Def Leppard in 1987 from the album ''Hysteria''. It was released in January 1989 as the seventh and final single from the album and reached the Top 15 in the US Billboard Hot 100 and UK Singles Chart. Background and composition Singer Joe Elliott came up with the idea of "Rocket" after he overheard a friend's cassette of "Burundi Black" by Burundi Steiphenson Black, which had previously had an influence on such UK bands as Adam and the Ants and Bow Wow Wow. Elliott then borrowed the tape to make a rhythm loop and overlaid guitar chords over it for a rough draft on the song. When he brought it to Lange and the band, they re-recorded and developed Elliott's idea in a higher key. The song was nearly developed as a near-instrumental with only a short chorus ("Rocket! Yeah"), but after the lyrics "Satellite of Love", which referenced the song of the same name by Lou Reed in 1972, were added to the chorus, the band expanded on the con ...

According to the official Def Leppard , As the song's melody begins, Elliott speaks the lines, "All right/I've got something to say/It's better to burn out/Than to fade away"; the second two lines are a reference to Neil Young's song " Hey Hey, My My (Out of the Blue)". Def Leppard's four-line version was quoted in the 1986 movie ''Highlander'' by the film's villain, the Kurgan. Young's line would later become immortali ...
