Vittorio Amedeo Cignaroli
Vittorio Amedeo Cignaroli (1730–1800) was an Italian painter and architect. He was the grandson of Martino Cignaroli. Biography He was born in Turin, and is described as a painter of landscapes and history. He was active during 1778–1793. He married the daughter of the French sculptor La Datte, who had been a member of the French Academy and author of the ossuary of the chapel of Sacra Sindone. Vittorio worked for the King of Sardinia, and in 1782, Victor Amadeus III of Sardinia named him painter of landscapes and wooded scenes for the King. Many of his paintings were present in the Royal Palace and Castle of the Venaria Reale; at the Palace of Stupinigi, he painted four large hunting scenes. Martino Cignaroli
Martino Cignaroli (1649 – January 10, 1726) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period. He was the elder son of Giambettino Cignaroli's uncle. Biography Also called ''il Veronese'', he was born and studied in Verona with Giulio Carpioni. He mainly painted both religious frescoes and landscapes. His landscapes are described as ''populated with small figures in a Flemish style''. He worked in Crema and Milan, until 1714 when he was asked to paint for the court of King of Sardinia, then in Turin. He traveled there with Scipione. His Cignaroli family line produced over a dozen artists and artisans. Martino's son Scipione became a pupil of Pieter Mulier II (Cavalier Tempesta). Martino's grandson, Vittorio Amedeo Cignaroli (1730–1800), was a known landscape painter for the House of Savoy in Turin. The Chapel of the Holy Shroud ( it, Cappella della Sacra Sindone) is a Baroque-style Roman Catholic chapel in Turin in northern Italy, constructed to house the Shroud of Turin (''Sindone di Torino''), a religious relic believed to be the burial shroud of Jesus of Nazareth. It is located adjacent the Turin Cathedral and connected to the Royal Palace of Turin. Victor Amadeus III (Vittorio Amadeo Maria; 26 June 1726 – 16 October 1796) was King of Sardinia from 1773 to his death.
