Vitals Global Healthcare (VGH) is a healthcare company based in Malta. It manages Public–private partnerships and works with Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. Hospital contract controversy In 2014 it "formulated a bid for the management and administration of a number of hospitals in the Maltese Islands". In November 2015, the company was given the contract by Maltese authorities. The choice of giving the contract to VGH was controversial, as the company had only formed recently and did not have any experience managing health care facilities. The contract terms were also considered biased with the government having to bail out VGH if it got into debt and it would cost €100 million plus pay company debts to buy the contract back. By the end of 2017, the company was deeply in debt, even though it had been paid 52.7 million euros by the Maltese government. Daphne Anne Caruana Galizia (; 26 August 1964 – 16 October 2017) was a Maltese writer, journalist, blogger and anti-corruption activist, who reported on political events in Malta. In particular, she focused on investigative journalism, reporting on government corruption, nepotism, patronage, allegations of money laundering, links between Malta's online gambling industry and organized crime, Malta's citizenship-by-investment scheme, and payments from the government of Azerbaijan. Caruana Galizia's national and international reputation was built on her regular reporting of misconduct by Maltese politicians and politically exposed persons. Edward Scicluna (born October 12, 1946 in Rabat, Malta) is a Maltese economist and politician. Scicluna assumed the position of Governor of the Central Bank of Malta as from 1st January 2021 for a five-year term. Christian Cardona (born 1972) is a Maltese former politician and lawyer. He was a Member of Parliament for the Maltese Labour Party and was elected Deputy Leader for Party Affairs in 2016.
