is the first album by Kaku P-Model, a solo continuation of P-Model led by Susumu Hirasawa. Susumu Hirasawa
is a Japanese musician and composer. In the fifth year of elementary school, Hirasawa took up the electric guitar, inspired by the surf and instrumental rock bands he heard on the radio and on TV, later joining his junior high school's band. In 1973 he formed Mandrake, a progressive rock band that incorporated elements from heavy metal and krautrock. Being one of the few Japanese progressive rock bands of its time, Mandrake achieved little success and released no albums during its lifetime. After discovering punk rock and working on synthesizer-heavy projects, Hirasawa felt that progressive rock became just for entertainment and decided to reform the band as the electronic rock band P-Model in 1979. Originally met with success, they turned to decidedly uncommercial post-punk and experimental rock after Hirasawa went through an adverse reaction to his fame. ''Gipnoza'' ( rus, гипноза) is the second album by Kaku P-Model. Overview The 2011 Tōhoku earthquake was worked in as a plot device for the album's dystopian science fiction concept story, a sequel to the events of ''Vistoron'', in which the reality-distorting Gipnoza nanobots are being planted inside of people through the food and medicine supply. Other story elements were taken from the 1996 album ''Convex And Concave'' by the P-Model/Devo tribute band Pevo. Yasumi Tanaka, a founding member of P-Model, returned 30 years after his departure from music as a guest performer on "Go for it! Halycon". Pevo's 1go also appeared as a guest musician on "Time-eliminating Light", and performed alongside Susumu Hirasawa at the album's ''Parallel Kozak'' live concerts. Water In Time And Space
is Susumu Hirasawa's first solo album. Background In December 1988, Hirasawa decided to put his post-punk/ new wave band P-Model on hiatus after spending two years being unable to arrange a recording deal, feeling that the group's continued existence was taking a mental and emotional toll on him. The following year, he was signed to Polydor, where he recorded ''Water in Time and Space''. Composition ''Water in Time and Space'' is half a self-cover album: With the band being put on hold, P-Model's ''Monster'' album was not recorded. However, Hirasawa could not afford to discard three of its songs and salvaged them for the album instead. Two songs from lo-fi cassette only releases (''Scuba'' and ''Charity Original Tape'') were also rearranged for the album, with Hirasawa wanting a better form for the former and the latter being a guideline for the style of ''Water in Time and Space''.
