Viscera Film Festival
The Viscera Film Festival was an annual Los Angeles-based horror film festival for women filmmakers. Originally an online festival, Viscera was founded in 2007 by Shannon Lark and Heidi Honeycutt. In July 2010, the festival became a live event with screenings held at the Grauman's Egyptian Theatre, Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, Hollywood. All of the screenings were short films. Horror is a film genre that seeks to elicit fear or disgust in its audience for entertainment purposes. Horror films often explore dark subject matter and may deal with transgressive topics or themes. Broad elements include monsters, apocalyptic events, and religious or folk beliefs. Heidi Honeycutt
Heidi Honeycutt is an American journalist, author, actress, filmmaker, film programmer, and co-founder of the Los Angeles-based Etheria Film Night, a film festival that showcases short films by women directors. She established the festival in 2014 with Stacy Pippi Hammon, and serves as its Director of Programming. Honeycutt and Hammon had previously run the Viscera Film Festival alongside Shannon Lark. Screen Anarchy, previously known as Twitch Film or Twitch, is a Canadian English-language website featuring news and reviews of mainly international, independent and cult films. Final Girl
The final girl is a trope in horror films (particularly slasher films). It refers to the last girl(s) or woman alive to confront the killer, ostensibly the one left to tell the story. The final girl has been observed in many films, including ''The Texas Chain Saw Massacre'', ''Halloween'', ''Alien'', '' Friday the 13th'', ''A Nightmare on Elm Street'', ''Scream'' and ''Train to Busan''. The term was coined by Carol J. Clover in her book '' Men, Women, and Chainsaws: Gender in the Modern Horror Film'' (1992). Clover suggested that in these films, the viewer began by sharing the perspective of the killer, but experienced a shift in identification to the final girl partway through the film. Mary Lambert Gary (born October 13, 1951) is an American director. She has directed music videos, television episodes and feature films, mainly in the horror genre.
