Virtual Soldier Research Program
The Virtual Soldier Research program (VSR) is a research group within the University of Iowa Center for Computer-Aided Design (CCAD). VSR was founded by ProfessoKarim Abdel-Malek(called the father of Santos) in 2003 through external funding from the US Army Tank Automotive Command (TACOM) to put the Warfighter at the center of US Army product designsProfessor Abdel-Maleks background in robotics and the use of rigorous mathematical formulations was the first introduction of mathematical kinematics to the field of Digital Human Modeling (DHM). Center For Computer-Aided Design
The Center for Computer-Aided Design (CCAD) is a research center in the College of Engineering at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. Faculty, staff, and students conduct basic and applied research in modeling and simulation in CCAD's six research units: the National Advanced Driving Simulator (NADS); the Operator Performance Laboratory (OPL); the Virtual Soldier Research Program (VSR); the Musculoskeletal Imaging, Modeling, and Experimentation group (MIMX); the Reliability and Sensory Prognostic Systems group (RSPS); and the BioMechanics of Soft Tissues group (BioMOST). Denavit–Hartenberg Parameters
In mechanical engineering, the Denavit–Hartenberg parameters (also called DH parameters) are the four parameters associated with a particular convention for attaching reference frames to the links of a spatial kinematic chain, or robot manipulator.
