Virginia True Boardman
Virginia True Boardman (born Margaret Shields, May 23, 1889 – June 10, 1971) was an American actress of the silent era. Biography Born in Fort Davis, Texas, Boardman began her theatrical career in 1906 as Virginia Eames (using her mother's surname) and acted with the Streeter-Bryan company in 1908. She went on to appear in 52 films between 1911 and 1936. Although her career started off strong, like many actresses of the silent film era she failed to make a successful transition to talking films, and by the mid-1930s her career was at its end for all practical purposes. On January 16, 1909, she married actor True Boardman, and they remained wed until his death in 1918. The couple performed together in stock theater companies and in vaudeville. They had one child, True Eames Boardman, who after a brief acting career had a long career as a script writer for radio, film and television. He was also the grandfather of actress Lisa Gerritsen. Fort Davis is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Jeff Davis County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,201 at the 2010 census, up from 1,050 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Jeff Davis County. History It was the site of Fort Davis, established in 1854 on the San Antonio–El Paso Road through west Texas and named after Jefferson Davis, who was then the Secretary of War under President Franklin Pierce. It was reestablished in 1867 following the civil war. Geography Fort Davis is located in southeastern Jeff Davis County at the southeast foot of the Davis Mountains. Texas State Highway 17 (State Street) passes through the center of town, leading northeast to Interstate 10 at Balmorhea and southwest to Marfa. ''The Road to Ruin'' is a 1934 pre-Code exploitation film directed by Dorothy Davenport, under the name "Mrs. Wallace Reid", and Melville Shyer, and written by Davenport with the uncredited contribution of the film's producer, Willis Kent. ''Pardon My Pups'' is a 1934 Shirley Temple short film. Plot A young boy named Sonny Rogers wants a motorcycle for his birthday but his stubborn father insists on getting an expensive hunting dog instead even though Sonny hates dogs and the father blatantly just wants the dog for himself. Sonny runs away from home but ends up returning with a pregnant lost dog he found, but the father orders him to take her to the pound to be put down. Sonny hides the dog instead. The father later realizes that the dog was actually Queeny, the mother of the unborn pup he was planning to buy.
