Known as Fort Eustis Boulevard, the state highway runs from Fort Eustis in Newport News, Virginia, Newport News east to U.S. Route 17 in Virginia, U.S. Route 17 (US 17) near Grafton, Virginia, Grafton in York County, Virginia, York County. Colonial Parkway is a scenic parkway linking the three points of Virginia's Historic Triangle, Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Yorktown. The Peninsula Extension which created the Peninsula Subdivision of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway (C&O) was the new railroad line on the Virginia Peninsula from Richmond to southeastern Warwick County.
