Virginia Legacy
Legacy is an American soccer team based in Williamsburg, Virginia, United States. The team plays in the Mid-Atlantic Conference of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), the fourth tier of the American soccer pyramid. The team was founded in 1976 as Williamsburg Soccer Club. It played in the USL Premier Development League (PDL), considered roughly equal to the NPSL, until 2009, after which the franchise folded and the team left the league. In June 2013, it was announced that the club would re-join the fourth tier for the 2014 season in the NPSL. The team plays its home games in James City County Stadium-Wanner Stadium. Newport News () is an independent city in the U.S. state of Virginia. At the 2020 census, the population was 186,247. Located in the Hampton Roads region, it is the 5th most populous city in Virginia and 140th most populous city in the United States. Newport News is included in the Hampton Roads metropolitan area. Christopher Newport University (CNU) is a public university in Newport News, Virginia. It was founded in 1960 and is named after Christopher Newport, captain of Susan Constant, one of the ships which carried settlers of Jamestown, Virginia, Jamestown, the first permanent Kingdom of England, English settlement in North America. Busch Field
Busch Field is a stadium on the campus of the College of William and Mary located in Williamsburg, Virginia. It is currently used by the college's field hockey team for home games, as well as many intramural and club sport contests. There are two fields in the designated "Busch Field" area. One is composed of artificial astro turf while the other is artificial field turf. The name for the stadium comes from Anheuser-Busch, formerly the largest American brewer. Anheuser-Busch has a large presence in the Williamsburg area, including a brewery and the theme park Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Adjacent to Busch Field are the Busch Tennis Courts, also sponsored by the company.
