Virginia's 27th Senate District
Virginia's 27th Senate district is one of 40 districts in the Senate of Virginia. It has been represented by Republican Jill Vogel since 2008. Geography District 27 is located in the northern Shenandoah Valley and far western D.C. metropolitan area, covering all of Clarke County, Frederick County, Fauquier County, and the City of Winchester, as well as parts of Culpeper County, Loudoun County, and Stafford County. The district overlaps with Virginia's 1st, 5th, 7th, and 10th congressional districts, and the 2nd, 10th, 18th, 29th, 31st, 33rd, and 88th districts of the Virginia House of Delegates. It borders the state of West Virginia. Virginia's 2nd House Of Delegates District
Virginia's 2nd House of Delegates district is one of 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates, the lower house of the state's bicameral legislature. District 2 represents parts of Prince William and Stafford counties. The seat is currently held by Democrat Candi King. Elections 2017 The seat was previously held by Republican L. Mark Dudenhefer. He announced in January 2017 he would not seek reelection. Democrat Jennifer Carroll Foy won the June 2017 primary to become the Democratic candidate. She initially faced Republican Laquan Austion; however he withdrew from the race in August 2017. Republicans selected Michael Makee to run instead. Carroll Foy won the November general election. 2019 Carroll Foy was re-elected. 2021 special election Carroll Foy resigned effective December 12, 2020, to focus on her campaign for the 2021 Virginia gubernatorial election. The 2020 United States presidential election in Virginia was held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, as part of the 2020 United States presidential election in which all 50 states plus the District of Columbia participated. 2011 Virginia Elections
The 2011 Virginia state elections took place on November 8, 2011. All 140 seats in the Virginia General Assembly were up for re-election, as were many local offices. Virginia Senate Prior to the election, 22 seats were held by Democrats and 18 seats were held by Republicans. Redistricting caused the 13th district to be moved from Hampton Roads to Northern Virginia and the 22nd district to be moved from the Roanoke area to a district stretching from Lynchburg to Richmond. Republicans gained two seats, making the Senate tied with 20 Democrats and 20 Republicans. The 2019 Virginia Senate election was held on November 5, 2019, concurrently with the House election, to elect members to all 40 seats in the Senate of Virginia for the 161st Virginia General Assembly and the 162nd Virginia General Assembly.
