	Claude Virden Claude Felton Virden (born November 25, 1947) is a former American basketball player from Akron, Ohio. Career Virden played college basketball for Murray State University. Virden was drafted by the Seattle SuperSonics in the 1970 NBA draft and by the Kentucky Colonels in the 1970 American Basketball Association draft. After a stint in the United States Army, Virden signed with the Kentucky Colonels. 	Virden, Manitoba Virden is a town in southwestern Manitoba, Canada. Oil was first discovered in 1951, and Virden has since come to be known as the "Oil Capital of Manitoba". History Virden has its roots as a farming community known as Gopher Creek. However, it became a railway tent town in 1882, and grew in population due to the brick and flour industry, as well as with the discovery of oil in the 1950s. 	Virden, Illinois Virden is a city in Macoupin and Sangamon counties in the U.S. state of Illinois. The population was 3,425 at the 2010 census, and 3,354 at a 2018 estimate. The Macoupin County portion of Virden is part of the St. Louis, Missouri–Illinois Metropolitan Statistical Area, while the Sangamon County portion is part of the Springfield Metropolitan Statistical Area. 	Virden, New Mexico Virden is a village in Hidalgo County, New Mexico, United States. The population was 152 at the 2010 census. Growth and new construction is almost non-existent, but together with the Arizona sister-village of Duncan to the west, the consolidated area might experience minimal population and infrastructural growth in the next decade. History Known as Richmond prior to 1916, the area was originally owned by the New Mexico Mining Company, and was the location of a stamp mill for the silver ore mined in nearby Ralston. After the mine was closed, the site was sold in 1916 to Mormons who had left the Mormon Colonies in Chihuahua during the Mexican Revolution. The Mormons renamed the village after the rancher who sold them the land.
