Vir Bahadur Singh Planetarium, Gorakhpur
Vir Bahadur Singh Planetarium (also spelled 'Veer' or 'Bir') is a tourist attraction in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. It has been run by the Council of Science & Technology, Uttar Pradesh since 21 December 2009. This planetarium runs three daily, 45-minute shows at 1pm, 3pm and 5pm. It has a dome size of 18m and a seating capacity of 395. Indian Astronomical Observatory
The Indian Astronomical Observatory (IAO) is a high-altitude astronomy station located in Hanle, India and operated by the Indian Institute of Astrophysics. Situated in the Western Himalayas at an elevation of 4,500 meters (14,764 ft), the IAO is one of the world's highest located sites for optical, infrared and gamma-ray telescopes. A planetarium ( planetariums or ''planetaria'') is a theatre built primarily for presenting educational and entertaining shows about astronomy and the night sky, or for training in celestial navigation. A dominant feature of most planetariums is the large dome-shaped projection screen onto which scenes of stars, planets, and other celestial objects can be made to appear and move realistically to simulate their motion.
