Violetta Kiss
Violetta Nikolaevna Kiss (22 June 1925, Yaroslavl - 9 January 1994, Moscow) was a Soviet acrobat, juggler, director, and teacher, Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1972). Biography She was born in 1925 in Yaroslavl in the family of the circus dynasty Kiss, her grandfather Alexander Henrikhovich having been on the arena since the end of the 1890s, and her father Nikolai Alexandrovich since 1907. Violetta Nikolayevna entered the arena at the age of 7, taking part in acrobatic numbers, since 1939 she performed in a duet with her brother, Alexander Nikolayevich ( People's Artist of the RSFSR). Their duo received worldwide recognition and had a significant impact on the development of the art of circus juggling. The stunts performed by the duo to this day are a difficult feat to achieve. Aleksandr Nikolayevich Kiss (; October 2, 1921 – November 18, 1990) was a Soviet circus artist, juggler and director. People's Artist of the RSFSR (1969). Biography He was born in Baku in a family of old circus performers, a representative of the Kiss circus dynasty. His grandfather Aleksandr Genrikhovich Kiss (1879-1942), a Czech by birth, was a clown and animal trainer who began his circus activities in the late 1890s, and in 1915-1928 was the director of the circus in Kyiv. His father Nikolai Aleksandrovich Kiss (1897-1972) was a clown, rider, juggler and director. His mother Emma Kiss (née Ciniselli) was one of the descendants of Gaetano Ciniselli (1815-1881) of the famed Ciniselli Circus dynasty. People's Artist of the RSFSR (russian: Народный артист РСФСР, ''Narodnyj artist RSFSR'') was an honorary title granted to Soviet Union artists, including theatre and film directors, choreographers, music performers, and orchestra conductors, who had outstanding achievements in the arts, and who lived in the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR).
