''Violent Soho'' is the second official studio album of Violent Soho Violent Soho were an Australian alternative rock band that was formed in 2004 in the Brisbane suburb of Mansfield, Queensland originally under the name of "showroom". For the majority of the band's existence, the line-up was composed of Luke Bo ..., released on 9 March 2010 on the Ecstatic Peace label. The album contains much of the material off of their first album, '' We Don't Belong Here'', though it has been re-recorded with changes made to some of the songs. Although the album is not technically their first record, it is commonly referred to as their "debut album". Violent Soho were an Australian alternative rock band that was formed in 2004 in the Brisbane suburb of Mansfield, Queensland originally under the name of "showroom". For the majority of the band's existence, the line-up was composed of Luke Boerdam (lead vocals, guitar), James Tidswell (guitar, backing vocals), Luke Henery (bass, backing vocals) and Michael Richards (drums, backing vocals). Their sound has been compared to that of 1980s and 1990s alternative rock bands such as the Pixies, Mudhoney and Nirvana. Although being largely described as grunge, the band self described themselves as a " stoner pop" band. The band's third studio album, ''Hungry Ghost'', was certified Gold in Australia in September 2014. Their fourth album, ''Waco'', debuted at number 1 on the Australian ARIA Charts in 2016. ''AbsolutePunk'' was a website, online community, and alternative music news source founded by Jason Tate (the most recent CEO). The website mainly focused on artists who are relatively unknown to mainstream audiences, but it was known to feature artists who have eventually achieved crossover success, including Blink-182, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, New Found Glory, Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, The Gaslight Anthem, Anberlin, Thrice, All Time Low, Jack's Mannequin, Yellowcard, Paramore, Relient K, and A Day to Remember. The primary musical genres of focus were emo and pop punk, but other genres were included. On March 31, 2016, it was announced that founder Jason Tate would be re-acquiring ''AbsolutePunk'' from SpinMedia (the parent company of Buzznet) and the website would be shuttered and folded into Tate's new music and social platform, Chorus.fm. Sputnikmusic is an American music community website offering music criticism and music news alongside features commonly associated with wiki-style websites. The format of the website is unusual in that it includes both professional and amateur content, distinguishing it from professionally written music websites such as '' Pitchfork'' and ''Tiny Mix Tapes'', as well as collecting and presenting a wiki-style metadata database in a manner comparable to Rate Your Music and Discogs. Jesus Stole My Girlfriend
"Jesus Stole My Girlfriend" is a song by the Australian rock band Violent Soho. It was the first single from their self-titled debut, and is arguably the most well known song by the band. The song is originally found on the album '' We Don't Belong Here'', but was re-recorded (along with much of the material from the album) for their self-titled record. Interviews with the band (as well as lyrics) suggest that the song is about one of the band members' girlfriends leaving them for the devotion of Christianity. ''Hungry Ghost'' is the third studio album by Australian alternative rock band Violent Soho. It was released on I Oh You Records in September 2013. Title According to the band's frontman Luke Beardham, the title of the album and the song of the same name, originally referring to Chinese Buddhism, was taken from the book ''Culture Jam'' by Canadian civil activist Kalle Lasna and allegorically implies a person who, in an effort to fulfill his desire, loses himself. Boredam has also said Hungry Ghost "dealt with the spiritual skeleton we've become from this spoon-fed reality."
