Violence (Nothingface Album)
''Violence'' is the third album by the Washington, D.C.-based alternative metal band Nothingface. The album was released on September 5, 2000, via TVT Records. The album received positive reviews, but didn't experience mainstream popularity, selling only 87,000 copies in the United States. Production Early demos for the album were recorded in September 1999, including several songs which would end up being cut from the final track list. On March 10, 2000 the band flew to Canada, arriving at a studio located in Vancouver, British Columbia to begin recording ''Violence'', spending six weeks in the city. In a 2017 interview, drummer Chris Houck stated he learned that he had dangerously high blood pressure levels prior to recording the album, which would eventually lead to him leaving the band. Nothingface (band)
Nothingface was an American alternative metal band from Washington, D.C., formed in 1993. Their best-known and most prolific line-up consisted of Matt Holt (vocals), Tom Maxwell (guitar), Bill Gaal (bass) and Chris Houck (drums). They disbanded in 2004, only to reform the following year, reuniting with Gaal and Houck, and then disband four years later. In 2017, Matt Holt died from a degenerative disease. Ted Jensen
Ted Jensen (born September 19, 1954) is an American mastering engineer, known for having mastered many recordings, including the Eagles' ''Hotel California'', Green Day's '' American Idiot'' and Norah Jones' ''Come Away with Me''. Biography Ted Jensen was born to Carl and Margaret (Anning) Jensen, both of whom were musicians. Carl had studied at Yale University. Margaret went to Oberlin College & Conservatory and Skidmore College and was also a pilot. Carl and Margaret met on a train while going to a choral workshop. Ted has one brother, Rick, and two daughters, Kristen and Kim. While attending High School, Jensen was building his own stereo and recording equipment and began recording local bands both in the studio and at live events. Tom Maxwell (guitarist)
Tom Maxwell (born June 25, 1968) is an American musician, best known as the rhythm guitarist of heavy metal supergroup Hellyeah and the lead guitarist of alternative metal band Knives Out!. Previous bands include Nothingface in which he was a founding member. After Nothingface, Maxwell was involved in a band with Skrape vocalist Billy Keeton. In the 1980s, he was in thrash metal band Have Mercy. His style of playing and writing relies more on grooves and hooks rather than shredding and fast soloing. Early life Maxwell was born on June 25, 1968 in Baltimore, Maryland. He got his first guitar, a 1969 Gibson Les Paul, when he was eight years old. According to Maxwell, he still owns it. Matt Holt
Matthew Francis Holt (May 28, 1977 – April 15, 2017) was an American singer, formerly of alternative/nu metal band Nothingface and Kingdom of Snakes. Biography Matt Holt was raised in the suburbs of Gaithersburg, Maryland, and Germantown, Maryland, north of Washington, D.C. During high school he met Tommy Sickles through mutual friends. Holt, Sickles, and two other friends formed the band Ingredient 17, in which he played guitar and sang. After playing a show with a band known as Nothingface, the two bands became familiar with one another. Holt died in his Frederick, Maryland, home on April 15, 2017, at the age of 39 after years of battling an undisclosed degenerative illness.
