Latah County ( ) is a county located in the north central region of the U.S. state of Idaho. As of the 2020 census, the population was 39,517. The county seat and largest city is Moscow, the home of the University of Idaho, the state's flagship until 2012 and land-grant university. The county was created in 1888 and named for Latah Creek in its northwest corner. The name was derived from two words in the Nez Perce language to evoke the sense of "the place of pine trees and sestle." The Moscow School District #281 is a public school district located in Moscow, Latah County, Idaho. It has four elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, and one alternative high school. The district includes Moscow and Viola. Reconfiguration During the summer of 2012, the district reconfigured from a 6–3–3 format to 5–3–4; the ninth grade was moved out of the junior high, which was converted to a middle school (grades 6–8). Moscow High School (MHS) is a four-year public high school in Moscow, Idaho, United States. Dan Foreman
Daniel D. Foreman (born 1953) is an American politician who served as a member of the Idaho Senate from 2016 to 2018. He represented the 5th district, which covers parts of Benewah and Latah counties. Early life and education Foreman was born in Lake Forest, Illinois. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business management and administration Bradley University in 1975. Career He served in the United States Air Force for 30 years and retired as a colonel.
