Vinicio Capossela
Vinicio Capossela (born 14 December 1965) is an Italian singer-songwriter, poet and novelist. Capossela is renowned for the highly original and poetic lyrics of his songs. Many of them draw from traditions of Italian folk music, especially those of his parents' native Irpinia, part of the Campania province. Some of his songs — especially in the album ''Marinai, profeti e balene'' ("Sailors, Prophets and Whales") — are inspired on world themes and legends (''Canzone a manovella'', ''Medusa'') and world literature, such as Homer (''Calypso'', ''La lancia del pellide''), Samuel Taylor Coleridge (''Santissima dei naufragati''), Joseph Conrad (''Lord Jim''), Herman Melville (''Billy Budd'', ''La Bianchezza della Balena''), John Fante (''Accolita dei rancorosi''), Oscar Wilde (''Con una rosa''), Alfred Jarry (''Decervellamento'') and Geoffrey Chaucer (''Corvo torvo''). Calitri
Calitri ( la, Caletrium or ; Irpino: ) is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Avellino, Campania, Italy. Overview Calitri is in Campania near the borders of the regions of Apulia and Basilicata. It is approximately above sea level so on even on the hottest day there is generally a breeze. The Antico Borgo is in the oldest section of the town, the centro storico, at the top of which are the remains of a castle which predates the 12th century. The Borgo itself is a labyrinth of historic houses which have, over the centuries, been built into the hillside. Stone and marble stairs, frequently under old stone arches, connect the streets. Calitri suffered a devastating 1980 Irpinia earthquake, earthquake in 1980 and has only been partially rebuilt. The Castello at the top of its distinctive cone shaped hilltop is very impressive for its strong architectural forms. Francesco Guccini (, born 14 June 1940) is an Italian singer-songwriter, considered one of the most important '' cantautori'' of his time. During the five decades of his music career he has recorded 16 studio albums and collections, and 6 live albums. He is also a writer, having published autobiographic and noir novels, and a comics writer. Guccini also worked as actor, soundtrack composer, lexicographer and dialectologist. Guccini moved to Pàvana during World War II, then returned to Modena where he spent his teenage years and established his musical career. His debut album, '' Folk beat n. 1'', was released in 1967, but the first success was in 1972 with the album '' Radici''. He was harshly criticised after releasing ''Stanze di vita quotidiana'', and answered his critics with the song "L'avvelenata".
