Vincent Ingram
Alfred Kura Taratu Ingram (10 July 1946 – 6 June 2010) was a Cook Islands politician and Cabinet Minister. Ingram was born in Auckland, New Zealand, and initially raised in Samoa and then Rarotonga. He was educated at Avarua Side School, and then Mt Albert Grammar School in Auckland for his secondary education. He studied law, and was accepted to the bar in New Zealand in 1974, and the Cook Islands in 1975. Ingram joined the Cook Islands Democratic Party in the 1970s, and along with Norman George was active in fundraising for the party in New Zealand. He was elected to the Cook Islands Parliament in the 1978 election, and served in the administration of Tom Davis as Minister of Economic Development, Minister of Police and the Minister of Justice. After falling out with Davis in 1983, he crossed the floor, and served as Leader of the Opposition between 1984 and 1986. Geoffrey Henry
Sir Geoffrey Arama Henry (16 November 1940 – 9 May 2012) was a Cook Island politician who was twice the Prime Minister of the Cook Islands. He was leader of the Cook Islands Party (CIP) from 1979 to 2006. Early life Henry was a native of Aitutaki. His father was the deacon of the Cook Islands Christian Church on the island. He was also first cousin to Albert Henry. He received a law degree from Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand. He was married to Lady Louisa Henry. Political career Henry initially entered parliament in the opposition party aged 24 because of the corruption and excesses of the governing Cook Islands Party led by his cousin Albert Henry. However, in 1972 he joined the CIP: "family pressure was unbearable, and he could not personally tolerate being ostracised by the family again". Cook Islands Party
The Cook Islands Party is a nationalist political party in the Cook Islands. It was the first political party founded in the Cook Islands, and one of the two major parties of the islands' politics since 1965. From 1999 until 2005 it sometimes participated in coalition governments. In the 2006 elections, it came runner-up and largest opposition party in the islands. The party won both the 2010 and 2014 elections and currently forms the government. As a result of the 2018 elections, it is the second largest party in the Cook Islands Parliament. Tom Davis (Cook Islands Politician)
Sir Thomas Robert Alexander Harries Davis (11 June 1917 – 23 July 2007) was a Cook Islands statesman and medical researcher. He served as Prime Minister of the Cook Islands from 1978 to March 1983, and again from November 1983 to July 1987. He also worked as a medical officer, and as a medical researcher for the US Army and NASA. He was a founder of the Cook Islands Voyaging Society and constructed and voyaged in several replica ''vaka'', including ''Tākitumu'' and '' Te Au o Tonga''. Early life and education Davis was born on the island of Rarotonga and educated at King's College, Auckland. He was the first Cook Islands medical graduate in New Zealand, finishing his studies at the University of Otago in 1945.
