Villamar (municipality)
Villamar is a municipality in the Mexican state of Michoacán. Political entity The municipality is located in the northwest of the state,189 kilometres from the state capital of Morelia. It has a territory of 352.39 square kilometers, bordering the municipalities of Venustiano Carranza and Pajacuarán on the north, on the east with Tangamandapio, Las Zarquillas, and Chavinda, on the south with Tingüindín and Tocumbo, and on the east with Cotija, Jiquilpan and Sahuayo. Villamar has six principal communities: Villamar, Emiliano Zapata, El Platanal, Jaripo, Cerrito Colorado and San Antonio Guaracha. The municipality has a population of 8129 people. The main economic activities of the municipality include farming and ranching. Municipalities (''municipios'' in Spanish language, Spanish) are the second-level administrative divisions of Mexico, where the first-level administrative division is the ''states of Mexico, state'' (Spanish: estado). Michoacán
Michoacán, formally Michoacán de Ocampo (; Purépecha: ), officially the Free and Sovereign State of Michoacán de Ocampo ( es, Estado Libre y Soberano de Michoacán de Ocampo), is one of the 32 states which comprise the Federal Entities of Mexico. The state is divided into 113 municipalities and its capital city is Morelia (formerly called Valladolid). The city was named after José María Morelos, a native of the city and one of the main heroes of the Mexican War of Independence. Municipal President
A ''presidente municipal'' (English: "municipal president") is the chief of government of municipios in Mexico. This title was also used in the Philippines under the Spanish and American colonization; it is comparable to a mayor of the town or city.
