Villadam
Villadam is a residential area situated in the City of Thrissur in Kerala state of India. Villadam is Ward 9 of Thrissur Municipal Corporation. Education Villadam has a Government Higher Secondary School, it was established in 1906. The founder of the school was Ittyanath Kittunni Menon who was from the Ittyanath family in Villadam. Kittunni Menon built the school on his family land and initially it had two buildings housing the classrooms. The school was later handed over to the Princely State of Cochin which was in effect headed by his brother in law Rama Varma XV family. The school was a co-educational institution from its start in 1906 which was a rarity in then Kerala. Today the school is among the two schools selected from the Thrissur Legislative Assembly Constituency to be developed into one of international standard by the Government of Kerala. Sir Sri Rama Varma XV (1852–1932), known as the Rajarshi of Cochin and as Abdicated Highness, was the ruler of the Kingdom of Cochin from 1895 to 1914. Rama Varma abdicated the throne in 1914. Thrissur (), formerly Trichur, also known by its historical name Thrissivaperur, is a city and the headquarters of the Thrissur district in Kerala, India. It is the third largest urban agglomeration in Kerala after Kochi and Kozhikode, and the 21st largest in India. Thrissur Municipal Corporation
The Thrissur Municipal Corporation is the civic body that governs the Thrissur city in Kerala, India. It is the third largest city Corporation in the state of Kerala by area and fourth largest in population. Established as a Municipality since 1921 under the Cochin Municipal Regulations, it is responsible for civic infrastructure and administration; the distribution of electricity and water for Thrissur city. The Corporation manages 101.42 km of Thrissur city limits of through 55 wards through five zones Ayyanthole, Vilvattom, Ollukkara, Ollur and Koorkanchery. Kingdom Of Cochin
The Kingdom of Cochin, named after its capital in the city of Kochi (Cochin), was a kingdom in the central part of present-day Kerala state. It commenced at the early part of the 12th century and continued to rule until 1949, when monarchy was abolished by the dominion of India. Historically, the capital of Cochin was in Kodungallur (Cranganore), but in 1341 the capital was moved to Cochin inorder to remedy a disastrous flood. By the early 15th century, Cochin lost its ability to fully defend itself. By the late 15th century, the Cochin kingdom shrank to its minimal extent as a result of invasions by the Zamorin of Calicut. When Portuguese armadas arrived in India, the Kingdom of Cochin had lost its vassals to the Zamorins, including Edapalli and Cranganore, the later of which had even been at the centre of the kingdom historically.
