Villa Fiorita (Milan Metro)
Villa Fiorita is a suburban station on Line 2 of the Milan Metro in the village of Villa Fiorita, which is in the municipality of Cernusco sul Naviglio. History The station was opened in 1968, as a stop on the Milan-Gorgonzola fast tramway line. It was one of four stations not included in the original project (together with Cascina Burrona, Bussero and Villa Pompea). Since 4 December 1972 the section from Cascina Gobba to Gorgonzola, where this station is located, was connected to Milan Metro Line 2 and has operated as part of it ever since. Station structure The station has two concrete platforms, covered with translucent panels, and two tracks. Gorgonzola (Milan Metro)
Gorgonzola is a suburban station on Line 2 of the Milan Metro in the town of the same name. History The station was opened in 1968, as a terminus of the Milan-Gorgonzola fast tramway line. The fast tram line initially continued to Vaprio and Cassano. From 4 December 1972 the service on the Milan-Gorgonzola was carried by the trains of line 2 of the Milan subway, while the tram service continued between Gorgonzola and Vaprio, and therefore the station Gorgonzola became the interchange between metro and tram transport. The station, however, turned out to be unfit to perform the function of metropolitan line terminus, due to the lack of adequate parking spaces. Therefore, in 1973, work began to extend the line up to Gessate. Work proceeded slowly, with some interruptions, however, well before its conclusion, on 1 February 1978 the remaining tramway Gorgonzola-Vaprio was abolished and replaced by a bus service. Cascina Gobba is a station on Line 2 of the Milan Metro. The station is located on Via Padova at the west side of the A51 Milan bypass road. This is beside the major highway interchange known as ''Cascina Gobba'', which is the main vehicular transportation hub of northeast Milan, Italy. The line branches here to terminate at either Cologno Nord or Gessate. The station takes its name from Cascina Gobba, a nearby rural village. MeLA, a fully automated people mover opened in 1999, connects the station to the San Raffaele Hospital. Gorgonzola ( lmo, Gorgonzoeula ) is a town in the Metropolitan City of Milan, Lombardy, northern Italy. It is part of the territory of the Martesana, north-east of Milan.
