Vili Sopanen
Vili Sopanen (born October 21, 1987) is a Finnish former professional ice hockey player. He last played for Lukko in the Liiga. He was drafted by the New Jersey Devils, 177th overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Sopanen has previously played in the top tier Finnish Liiga with Lahti Pelicans, JYP Jyväskylä and HIFK. Playing career On June 11, 2018, Sopanen left his native Finland for the second time through his 12 year professional career, agreeing to a one-year deal with German outfit, ERC Ingolstadt of the DEL. The Lahti Pelicans are a Finnish professional ice hockey team playing in the Liiga. Founded in 1996, they play in the city of Lahti at Isku Arena. The team is co-owned by (among others) former National Hockey League (NHL) goaltender Pasi Nurminen and Formula One racecar driver Valtteri Bottas. History Viipurin Reipas (1891–1964) Viipurin Reipas was a sports club located in Vyborg. They won the first ever Finnish Ice Hockey Championship in 1928 with a team consisting mostly of bandy players. Rauman Lukko (Finnish for "lock") is a Finnish sports club based in Rauma, Finland, best known for its men’s professional ice hockey team. The club was founded as Rauma Woodin Lukko in 1936.
