Vilaller
Vilaller is a town and municipality in the ''comarca'' of Alta Ribagorça in Catalonia, Spain. Besides from the town of Vilaller, the municipality comprises the hamlet of Senet de Barravés and the old stable of Cierco, the latter is abandoned: only Senet and Vilaller have permanent population. In the past Casós, Sarroqueta de Barravés and Viuet belonged to Vilaller. The parish church of Vilaller is dedicated to Saint Clement. Nearby the town there is also the sanctuary of the Mother of God of Riupedrós or Reperós, the hermitages of Saint Mammes, Saint Anthony and Saint Peter (of which just few rests remain), the first chapel of the Seminar, dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, and the second chapel of the Seminar dedicated to Saint Joseph. Alta Ribagorça
Alta Ribagorça () is one of the comarques of Catalonia, Spain. Its capital is Pont de Suert. The highest peak is the Comaloformo (3030 metres above sea level) in the massif of Bessiberri. Northeast of the region is the western part of the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park. It is connected with the Aran valley thorough the Vielha tunnel. Vall De Boí
The Vall de Boí () is a narrow, steep-sided valley and a small municipality in the province of Lleida, in the autonomous community of Catalonia, northern Spain. It lies in the northeastern corner of the comarca of Alta Ribagorça, on the edges of the Pyrenees. It is the largest municipality of the region, with its main town being Barruera. The valley is best known for its nine Early Romanesque churches, making it the site of the densest concentration of Romanesque architecture in Europe. It was designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO on 30 November 2000. The valley also includes the highest ski resort in the Pyrenees, at Boí-Taüll, and borders the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park which lies to the northeast. This is a list of the 42 ''comarques'' (singular ''comarca'', , ) into which Catalonia is divided. A ''comarca'' is a group of municipalities, roughly equivalent to a county in the US or a district or council in the UK. However, in the context of Catalonia, the term "county" can be a bit misleading, because in medieval Catalonia, aside from the kings of Aragon, the most important rulers were counts, notably the Counts of Barcelona and of Urgell. Comarques have no particular relation to the "counties" that were ruled by counts. Naut Aran
Naut Aran () is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of the Val d'Aran in Catalonia, Spain. It is the second largest municipality in Catalonia in terms of surface area (225.8 km², behind Tremp), and was created in 1967 by the merger of the municipalities of Arties, Salardú, Gessa, Tredòs and Bagergue: the former municipalities retain some privileges as "decentralised municipal entities" (''entitats municipals descentralitzades'', EMD). The name literally means "Upper Valley" in Aranese, and both the Garonne (''Garona'') and the Noguera Pallaresa have their sources on the territory of the municipality. The town hall is in Salardú. Pope Clement II
Pope Clement II ( la, Clemens II; born Suidger von Morsleben; died 9 October 1047), was head of the Catholic Church and ruler of the Papal States from 25 December 1046 until his death in 1047. He was the first in a series of reform-minded popes from Germany. Suidger was the bishop of Bamberg. In 1046, he accompanied King Henry III of Germany, when at the request of laity and clergy of Rome, Henry went to Italy and summoned the Council of Sutri, which deposed Benedict IX and Sylvester III, and accepted the resignation of Gregory VI. Henry suggested Suidger as the next pope, and he was then elected, taking the name of Clement II. Clement then proceeded to crown Henry as emperor. Clement's brief tenure as pope saw the enactment of more stringent prohibitions against simony. Roda De Isábena
Roda de Isábena is a village in the municipality of Isábena, in the region of Ribagorza, in the province of Huesca, Spain. It was the capital of the county of Ribagorza and site of a diocese, the reason why the Romanesque Cathedral of Roda was built between the 11th and 12th century. Located near the Isábena river, the county of Ribagorza was one of the founding domains from which was built the Kingdom of Aragon. The village of Roda rises over a mountain which dominates the access to the valley of Isábena. During the tenth century it was a fortified village which served as a vigilance point between the Muslim Taifa of Saragossa and the Christian county of Ribagorza, which would ultimately become part of the Kingdom of Aragon. Mammes Of Caesarea
Saint Mammes (Mamas, Mammas, Mammet) of Caesarea ( el, Μάμας; french: Mammès; it, Mamante; es, Mamés; pt, São Mamede) was a child-martyr of the 3rd century, who was martyred at Caesarea. His parents, Theodotus and Rufina, were also martyred. Life Born in prison to parents who had been jailed for being Christians, Mammes became an orphan when his parents were executed. After their death, Mammes was raised by a rich widow named Ammia, who died when Mammes was 15 years old. According to legend, Mammes was tortured for his faith by the governor of Caesarea and was then sent before the Roman Emperor Aurelian, who tortured him again. The Mammes legend states that an angel then liberated him and ordered him to hide on a mountain near Caesarea.
