Viking Mestad
Viking Mestad (12 January 1930 – 15 December 2013) was a Norwegian banker and politician for the Liberal Party. He took the cand.jur. degree in 1955, and was hired in the Bank of Norway in 1962. In 1986 he was promoted from the position as head of the administration department to become director of the secretariat of the board (''Hovedstyresekretariatet''). He remained in the Bank of Norway until his retirement in 1995. In 2002 he issued the study ''Frå fot til feste - norsk valutarett og valutapolitikk 1873-2001''. From 1972 to 1973 he served as a State Secretary in the Ministry of Government Administration and Consumer Affairs as a part of Korvald's Cabinet. He was also a member of Oslo city council in the early 1970s. Mestad was a proponent of the Nynorsk written form of Norwegian. From 1977 to 1997 he was the chair of the theatre Det Norske Teatret. Liberal Party Of Norway
The Liberal Party ( no, Venstre, lit=Left, V; se, Gurutbellodat) is a centrist political party in Norway. It was founded in 1884 and it is the oldest political party in Norway. It is positioned in the centre on the political spectrum, and it is a liberal party which has over the time enacted reforms such as parliamentarism, freedom of religion, universal suffrage, and state schooling. For most of the late 19th and early 20th century, it was Norway's largest and dominant political party, but in the postwar era it lost most of its support and became a relatively small party. The theatre was founded in 1912, after an initiative from Hulda Garborg and Edvard Drabløs. It opened in 1913, touring with two plays, ''Ervingen'' by Ivar Aasen and ''Rationelt Fjøsstell'' by Hulda Garborg. Its first official performance was Ludvig Holberg's comedy ''Jeppe på berget'', with Haakon VII of Norway and the prime minister of Norway among the spectators. Hulda Garborg was the first board manager, and Rasmus Rasmussen was the first theatre director. The theatre primarily performs plays written in or translated into Nynorsk. Henrik Mestad
Henrik Mestad (born 22 June 1964) is a Norwegian stage, film, and television actor. He received the Hedda Award in 2011. Mestad was born in Oslo as a son of the politician Viking Mestad. He is educated at the Norwegian Theatre Academy and was hired at Nationaltheatret in 1991. As a dramatist, Mestad penned and starred in the plays ''Lik meg når jeg er teit'' (1993) and ''Nansens sønn'' (2002), both of which played at Nationaltheatret. The Hedda Award (''Heddaprisen'') is a Norwegian theatre award, first presented in 1998. It is named after the character "Hedda" from Ibsen's play ''Hedda Gabler''. Berge Furre
Berge Ragnar Furre (13 April 193711 January 2016) was a Norwegian historian, theologian and politician for the Socialist Left Party. Early life and career Furre was born in Sjernarøy in 1937, the son of engineer Berge Bergesen Furre (1887–1952) and secretary Else Otilie Tjomsaas (1906–1993). He took primary education in Sjernarøy, Stavanger and Oslo, and finished his secondary education in Oslo in 1955. Later that year he enrolled at the University of Oslo. In 1959 he became the leader of the Norwegian Students' Society. He was a member of the Labour Party, but as the chairman of ''Sosialistisk Studentlag'' (1956–1957) he was central to the so-called "Easter Uprising" in 1958. He later left the Labour Party to found the Socialist People Party together with other prominent persons in the Easter Uprising, such as Finn Gustavsen. He was the party secretary from 1961 to 1964.
