Viking Hockey is an ice hockey team based in Stavanger, Norway. The club was founded in 1998, replacing Viking IK, which had folded in 1996. They played one season in the GET-ligaen, 1998-99. The team colors are blue and they play home matches in Siddishallen. Ice Hockey
Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey. Kyle McDonough
Kyle McDonough is an American ice hockey coach and former center who was an All-American for Vermont. Career McDonough was star for Vermont for four seasons in the later half of the 1980's. Despite low totals, he led the Catamounts in scoring as a freshman, helping the team post its first winning season in six years. He continued to lead the offense for most of his career and helped Vermont make its first NCAA tournament appearance in 1988. His production increased in his senior season and he was named an All-American. Vermont reached its first ECAC championship game but lost to St. Lawrence. After graduating, McDonough headed to Europe to begin is professional career. He had nearly the same production in the Metal Ligaen as he had in college but couldn't help Aalborg finish better than 7th in the league. Tore Vikingstad
Tore Vikingstad (born 8 October 1975) is a retired Norwegian professional ice hockey player. Career Club career He played for Viking and Stjernen in Norway, then Färjestad and Leksand in Sweden until 2001. He was selected by the St. Louis Blues in the sixth round, 180th overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. A stint in the DEG Metro Stars from 2001 to 2008 was followed by three seasons in the Hannover Scorpions. In the 2005-2006 season of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga, he was named MVP and also became the top scorer in the same season with a total of 71 points. That accomplishment also led to Vikingstad being named the best Norwegian ice hockey player of 2005-06, earning him the Golden Puck award. Stavanger Ishockeyklubb, commonly referred to as Stavanger Oilers, is a Norwegian ice hockey team based in Stavanger, Norway. They currently play in the Fjordkraftligaen, which is the top division in Norwegian ice hockey. As of 2018, it is the only team in the league from western Norway. The Oilers play their home matches in DNB Arena. History Stavanger Oilers were established as a company team by Finnish expatriate workers in 2000.
