Vijayachander, (born Vijayachander Telidevara), is an Indian actor, director and producer, known for his works in Telugu cinema, theatre, and television. Regarded as one of the finest character actor's of Telugu cinema, Vijayachander has appeared in more than forty feature films in a variety of roles. Vijayachander is known for his path-breaking works in biographical films; He essayed Jesus of Nazareth in the 1978 film ''Karunamayudu'' which he produced, and won the Nandi Award for Best Feature Film; He then enacted his own maternal Grandfather Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu in the 1982 film '' Andhra Kesari'' for which he has received the state Nandi Special Jury Award. Andhra Kesari
''Andhra Kesari'' is a 1983 Indian Telugu-language period biographical film based on the life of Tanguturi Prakasam Panthulu, the first chief minister of the newly carved out State of Andhra Pradesh in Independent India. A co-production between Vijayachander and the Government of Andhra Pradesh. It was directed, written and produced by Vijayachander. It stars Vijayachander as Panthulu and Murali Mohan as Kandukuri Veeresalingam. The film touches upon his contributions to the Simon Go Back movement. ''Karunamayudu'' () is a 1978 Indian Telugu-language biographical film written and directed by A. Bhimsingh. It stars Vijayachander as Jesus of Nazareth. The film won two Nandi Awards, was notable for two song sequences narrating the Birth of Jesus and Entry into Jerusalem, the film was screened at the International Film Festival of India. It was followed by ''Dayamayudu'' (1987), starring Vijayachander as Saint Paul, which can considered as a sequel to ''Karunamayudu''. ''Sri Shirdi Saibaba Mahathyam'' is a 1986 Telugu-language musical biograhical film written and directed by K. Vasu, based on the life of Shirdi Sai Baba, who has preached and practiced Religious humanism. Vijayachander portrayed the role of Baba. The film was a blockbuster and remained a cult classic. The film ran for 175 days in 12 centers, was screened at the International Film Festival of India and the Moscow Film Festival. Sai Baba of Shirdi (c. 1838? - died 15 October 1918), also known as Shirdi Sai Baba, was an Indian spiritual master and fakir, considered to be a saint, revered by both Hindu and Muslim devotees during and after his lifetime. ''Sudigundalu'' () is a 1968 Indian Telugu-language philosophical film, produced by Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Adurthi Subba Rao under the Chakravarthy Chitra banner and directed by Adurthi Subba Rao.
