Vigo-Urzáiz Railway Station
Vigo railway station, also known as Vigo-Urzáiz, is a railway terminus in Vigo, Spain. It provides high speed train connection through the Atlantic Axis high-speed rail line with main Galician cities as Pontevedra, Santiago de Compostela and A Coruña every hour. The station is directly connected through the bus stop in Urzaiz street (50 m from the station hall) with the Airport (line 9A) and the Bus Station (line 4C). There is a taxi stop in front of the station. History The station is located on the grounds of the original Vigo-Urzáiz station built in 1878, from which the first train left on 18 June 1881 for Ourense, thus inaugurating the railway service in the city of Vigo. Atlantic Axis High-speed Rail Line
The Atlantic Axis high-speed rail line, also called Atlantic Corridor high-speed rail line, is a high-speed railway line that links A Coruña, Santiago de Compostela, Pontevedra and Vigo in Spain. The Atlantic Axis was inaugurated in April 2015. History Construction started in 2001 and the first section between A Coruña and Santiago de Compostela opened in 2009 and was electrified in 2011. The extension from Santiago de Compostela to Pontevedra and Vigo completed in March 2015 and the entire line was inaugurated on 18 April 2015. The total investment of the project exceeded €3 bn. Vigo-Guixar railway station is a railway station in Vigo, (province of Pontevedra), Spain. Originally the site of a freight depot for the port of Vigo, on the wharf of the same name, it serves as the temporary terminal for all trains into Vigo during the construction of the new Vialia Vigo station - replacing Vigo-Urzaiz. The Série 0450 is a type of diesel multiple unit train used by the Portuguese Railways (CP). They were originally built in 1965-66 as the Série 0400. Trenhotel
Trenhotel is a long distance, high-quality overnight train service which uses Talgo tilting trains technology and sleeping cars developed by the Spanish rail network operator Renfe. It is operated by Renfe when it operates within Spain, and is operated by its subsidiary Elipsos when in France, Switzerland and Italy. The specially developed Talgo carriages are sometimes used by other railway companies, although usually in other livery. Trenhotel also offers special facilities for disabled passengers. Thom Mayne
Thom Mayne (born January 19, 1944) is an American architect. He is based in Los Angeles. In 1972, Mayne helped found the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc), where he is a trustee and the coordinator of the Design of Cities postgraduate program. Since then he has held teaching positions at SCI-Arc, the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He is principal of Morphosis Architects, an architectural firm based in Culver City, California and New York City, New York. Mayne received the Pritzker Architecture Prize in March 2005. Vigo–Peinador Airport
Vigo Airport is an airport from the centre of Vigo and 28 km from the centre of Pontevedra (the capital of this province), and is situated in the municipalities of Redondela, Vigo and Mos, in the Province of Pontevedra, Spain. History By 1927, the Spanish Government became aware of the necessity of having a customs airport in Galicia. Initially, the harbour of Vigo was equipped for seaplanes and a "maritime airport" was built and started operations at nearby Cesantes beach in March 1929; meanwhile the construction of a larger inland airport at Peinador was initiated.
