Vida (Sui Generis Album)
''Vida'' (''Life'') is the debut album of Argentine rock group Sui Generis, released in 1972 by Microfón. In 2007, the Argentine edition of ''Rolling Stone'' ranked it 66th on its list of " The 100 Greatest Albums of Argentine Rock". Background Sui Generis was an electric band formed at the Instituto Social Militar Dr. Dámaso Centeno under the influence of the Swinging London and the regulars of La Cueva. The project soon became an acoustic duo. And, during a tour of Mar del Plata, they were signed by Jorge Álvarez for the Talent Microfón label. Very soon Álvarez (founder of Mandioca) managed to incorporate Sui Generis into the grid of the third "B.A. Rock" festival and secure their inclusion in the subsequent movie '' Hasta que se ponga el sol''. Nito Mestre
Carlos Alberto Mestre (born August 3, 1952 in Buenos Aires, Argentina) mostly known by his stage name Nito Mestre, is an Argentine musician, founding member –along with Charly García– of Sui Generis, member of PorSuiGieco, bandleader of Nito Mestre y los Desconocidos de Siempre and a recording solo artist. ''Sui Generis'', was initially formed in 1969 by Charly García (keyboards and vocals), Nito Mestre (guitar, flute and vocals), Rolando Fortich (bass guitar), Juan Belia (guitar), Alberto Rodriguez (drums) and Carlos Piegari (vocals). Later on, Sui Generis became a duo as everyone left except for García. Charly García
Charly García (born Carlos Alberto García, October 23, 1951) is an Argentine singer-songwriter, musician and record producer. He formed and headlined two of the most popular bands in Argentina's rock history: Sui Generis in the 1970s and Serú Girán in the 1980s, plus cult status groups like progressive-rock act La Máquina de Hacer Pájaros and folk rock supergroup PorSuiGieco, both also in the 1970s. Since the 1980s García has worked mostly as a solo musician. His main instrument is the piano, followed by guitar and keyboards. García is also well known for his flamboyant and rebellious personality as well as his bicolor moustache, with one side white due to vitiligo. Pescado Rabioso
Pescado Rabioso (Rabid Fish) were an Argentinian rock band led by Argentine musician Luis Alberto Spinetta from 1971 to 1973. Initially a trio accompanied by drummer Black Amaya and bassist Osvaldo "Bocón" Frascino, they became a quartet with the addition of keyboardist Carlos Cutaia. Finally, David Lebón replaced Frascino in 1972 and featured on the album Pescado 2. In spite of their short life, they are still considered an important and influential piece of Argentine rock history. They were the second major band of Spinetta, created after Almendra's break up in the late 1960s and a seven-month trip through Brazil, United States and Europe. Although labeled under the band's name due to legal terms with his record company, Pescado Rabioso's final album ''Artaud'' is actually a complete solo effort from Spinetta. Color Humano
Color Humano was an Argentine rock group of the early 1970s. History The dissolution of Almendra yielded three new outfits, one of them being Color Humano. This power trio was a solid rock group, which would in 1972 release their debut album ''Color Humano'', following the Argentine rock etiquette of naming the first studio release after the band. The record is one of those unusual works that do not feature a hit song, but where the entire set of tracks as a whole become a thoroughly enjoyable listen, a mixture of acoustic rock songs and slightly harder edge ones. David Lebón would leave and be replaced by Oscar Moro. This change would shift the group's sound. Between March and June 1973, Color Humano recorded enough songs for a double album. ''Hasta que se ponga el sol'' (Spanish for "Until the sun sets") is 1973 Argentine documentary film of the foundational stage of the '' rock nacional'' (Spanish for "national rock") movement. It was filmed in the third edition of the historic B.A. Rock rock festival, which took place in 1972 at the Argentinos Juniors stadium. It was also completed with filming in Teatro Olimpia and the film studios of Argentina Sono Film and Phonalex.
