Ben Carroll
Benjamin Alan Carroll (born 12 July 1975) is an Australian politician. He is the representative for the seat of Niddrie in the Victorian Legislative Assembly. The National Party of Australia – Victoria is a political party in Victoria, which forms the state branch of the federal Nationals. Historically, it represented graziers, farmers and rural voters. However, the modern National Party no longer represents these traditional interests; shifting its focus to support the mining industry and as a result, ignoring the challenges faced by rural communities and farmers struggling with the effects of climate change and mining practices such as fracking. Joan Kirner
Joan Elizabeth Kirner (née Hood; 20 June 1938 – 1 June 2015) was an Australian politician who was the 42nd Premier of Victoria, serving from 1990 to 1992. A Labor Party member of the Parliament of Victoria from 1982 to 1994, she was a member of the Legislative Council before later winning a seat in the Legislative Assembly. Kirner was a minister and briefly deputy premier in the government of John Cain Jr., and succeeded him as premier following his resignation. Caroline Hogg
Caroline Jennifer Hogg (born 18 April 1942) is a former Australian politician for the Labor Party. She was a member of the Victorian Legislative Council from 1982 to 1996 and a minister in the governments of John Cain and Joan Kirner. Born Caroline Jennifer Kluht in Somerset, England, she emigrated to Australia in 1950 with her mother. She trained to become a teacher and in 1967, married Bob Hogg, who later became national secretary of the ALP. They had a son and a daughter. Caroline Hogg worked as a teacher at Fitzroy High School for fifteen years and became an executive member of the Victorian Secondary Teachers Association. She was elected to Collingwood City Council in 1970 and was mayor from 1978 to 1979. Ian Robert Cathie (24 October 1932 – 25 October 2017) was an Australian politician. Born in Melbourne, to printer George Mitchell Cathie and Sybil Balding, he attended state schools, Wesley College, then the University of Melbourne, where he studied teaching. On 5 January 1957 he married Christine Watson, with whom he had four children; he married again on 3 July 1976 Jean Germain, an industrial nurse. He was president of the Peninsula Victorian Teachers Union in 1959 and taught at Frankston and Mordialloc-Chelsea High Schools, as well as serving on the council of Monash University from 1977 to 1982. Alan John Hunt AM (9 October 1927 – 19 July 2013) was an Australian politician, having been a member of the Victorian Legislative Council from 1961 until 1992. Hunt started his education in South Australia and later attended Melbourne Grammar School. He then went to the University of Melbourne where he was a non-resident law student at Trinity College. He was president of the Melbourne University Liberals from 1948–50 and secretary of the then National Union of Australian University Students. Lindsay Hamilton Simpson Thompson AO, CMG (15 October 1923 – 16 July 2008) was an Australian Liberal Party politician who served the 40th Premier of Victoria from June 1981 to April 1982. He was previously the Deputy Premier between 1972 and 1981. Thompson was the longest-serving member in Victorian parliamentary history, serving a total of 27 years in the Legislative Council (1955–1970) and the Legislative Assembly (1970–1982). John Bloomfield (politician)
Sir John Stoughton Bloomfield (9 October 1901 – 30 June 1989) was an Australian politician. He was born in Toorak to accountant Arthur stoughton Bloomfield and Ada Victoria McGuigan. He attended Geelong Grammar School before entering Trinity College in 1921 while studying at Melbourne University, where he received a Bachelor of Law. He practised as a solicitor from 1927, and on 21 March 1931 married Beatrice Madge Taylor, with whom he had two children. During World War II he served in the AIF in the Middle East and New Guinea, rising to the rank of lieutenant-colonel. On his return he was called to the bar. Sir William Watt Leggatt (23 December 1894 – 27 November 1968) was an Australian soldier, lawyer and politician. Sir Arthur Gordon Rylah, (3 October 190920 September 1974) was an Australian politician and lawyer who served as Deputy Premier of Victoria from 1955 to 1971.
