Victoria Vazquez
Victoria Vazquez is a Cherokee Nation artist and politician who has served on the Cherokee Nation Tribal Council since October 22, 2013. She was named a Cherokee National Treasure in 2012. Early life and artistic career Victoria Mitchell was born to Anna Sixkiller Mitchell and Robert Clay Mitchell. Her mother was a Cherokee artist credited with reviving traditional Southeastern Woodlands-style pottery. Victoria was awarded a Smithsonian Native Arts Fellowship in 2005 and her work is displayed National Museum of the American Indian. She was named a Cherokee National Treasure in 2012 for her traditional pottery. She worked as a self-employed potter and pottery teacher for twenty years before running for office. Cherokee Nation
The Cherokee Nation (Cherokee: ᏣᎳᎩᎯ ᎠᏰᎵ ''Tsalagihi Ayeli'' or ᏣᎳᎩᏰᎵ ''Tsalagiyehli''), also known as the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma, is the largest of three Cherokee federally recognized tribes in the United States. It was established in the 20th century and includes people descended from members of the Old Cherokee Nation who relocated, due to increasing pressure, from the Southeast to Indian Territory and Cherokee who were forced to relocate on the Trail of Tears. The tribe also includes descendants of Cherokee Freedmen, Absentee Shawnee, and Natchez Nation. As of 2021, over 400,000 people were enrolled in the Cherokee Nation. The Cherokee (; chr, ᎠᏂᏴᏫᏯᎢ, translit=Aniyvwiyaʔi or Anigiduwagi, or chr, ᏣᎳᎩ, links=no, translit=Tsalagi) are one of the indigenous peoples of the Southeastern Woodlands of the United States. Janelle Fullbright
Janelle Echo Lattimore Fullbright (December 11, 1945 – December 10, 2016) was a Cherokee politician and educator who was a member of the Cherokee Nation Tribal Council representing District 6 from 2007 to 2015. She served as the deputy speaker from 2013 to 2015. Life Fullbright was born on December 11, 1945, to S. Loyd Lattimore and Juanita Garvin Lattimore in the Akins/Miller Ridge Community near Akins, Oklahoma. She was a Cherokee Nation citizen. The youngest of three children, Fullbright graduated from Central High School in the early 1960s. She earned a bachelor's degree in education from Northeastern State University and later obtained two master's degree. Fullbright was an elementary school teacher at Central Elementary.
