Victoria District
Victoria District was a federal electoral district in British Columbia, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1871 to 1872. History It was created at the time of that province's entry into Confederation in 1871. It was composed of all of the Victoria, Esquimalt and Saanich districts as defined at the time. In 1872, it was abolished, and replaced by Victoria riding. As there was no general federal election including the new BC seats until 1872, the original Members of Parliament (MPs) from BC were elected in a special byelection held on 20 September 1871. This is a list of past arrangements of Canada's electoral districts. Each district sends one member to the House of Commons of Canada. This is a list of Canada's 338 federal electoral districts (commonly referred to as '' ridings'' in Canadian English) as defined by the ''2013 Representation Order''. New Westminster District was a Canadian federal electoral district created when the province of British Columbia joined Confederation in 1871. Like other ridings established in that year, a byelection was called to fill the seat until the general election of 1872. The riding constituted all of the New Westminster Land District as well as the whole of the mainland Coast and adjoining islands, all the way to the Yukon border excepting the Coast and the Alaska Panhandle. The 1871 names were all temporary pending ratification of the riding system by the provincial legislature. Yale District
Yale District was a federal electoral district in British Columbia, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1871 to 1872. The riding was created for a special byelection in 1871 and only used that once - and then only as an acclamation. In 1872, revisions to electoral districts in British Columbia replaced the riding by "Yale" riding, with exactly the same boundary. The official definition of the Yale District and Yale ridings (that is, the original Yale riding, not the second) is all of both the Yale and Kootenay Land Districts, which took in the whole of the province from the Fraser Canyon to the Rocky Mountains and including the Kamloops and Shuswap areas. Cariboo District was a federal electoral district in British Columbia, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1871 to 1872. It was created when the province of British Columbia joined Confederation in 1871. Like other ridings established in that year, a byelection was called to fill the seat until the general election of 1872. The riding constituted all of the Lillooet and Cariboo Land Districts (identical with the provincial electoral districts of those names at the time), meaning everything north and inland from Howe Sound and north of the Thompson River, all the way to the Yukon border excepting the Coast.
