Victoria Avenue is a Lower City arterial road in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. It starts off as a ramp and part of a Mountain-access road, ''the Claremont Access'', on Hunter Street East in the ''Stinson'' neighbourhood. It's also a one-way thoroughfare that flows north through the ''Landsdale'' and the city's ''North End'' industrial neighbourhood past ''Burlington Street East'' where it ends at ''Pier 11''. History Victoria Avenue was named after Queen Victoria. In 1902 Canadian Otis Elevator Company (1902–1987) was formed (August 22) on ''Victoria Avenue North''. For many years Hamilton, Ontario was home to the largest single elevator manufacturing facility in the world. The workers produced all kinds of elevators, escalators and later, forklifts. Victoria Avenue (french: Avenue Victoria) is a major street located in city of Saint-Lambert, Quebec and in the borough of Greenfield Park in the city of Longueuil, Quebec, Canada. Victoria Avenue extends from Riverside Drive, near Route 132 and the Saint Lawrence River in the north, to the Brossard municipal boundary in the south. Victoria Avenue is known as Lapinière Boulevard in Brossard. Victoria Avenue is named for Queen Victoria (1819–1901), the Queen of Canada from 1837 to her death in 1901. The portion of Victoria Avenue in Greenfield Park was originally named Devonshire Road. Victoria Avenue is one of the main east-west streets in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Victoria Avenue is named in honour of Queen Victoria and crosses Albert Street, (named in honour of the Queen's consort and husband, Prince Albert) in downtown. It is the main eastern entrance into Regina. Route description Victoria Avenue begins as residential collector road in the Cathedral neighbourhood in Regina's old West End at Pasqua Street. Here Pasqua Street is a residential street, different from Pasqua Street N which is a northern extension of Lewvan Drive, a major north-south road in Regina; Victoria Avenue does not provide access to Lewvan Drive. Victoria Avenue (classified as the A2) is a major road in Jersey, connecting the capital St Helier to Bel Royal in St Lawrence, also providing access to the western part of the A1 for non-bus traffic, due to a bus gate that prevents traffic from the A1 continuing on the A1. The road has been referred to as "the Island's most important route and event venue", due to the fact that 30,000 vehicles travel along the road each day, and it provides a vital route between the two largest conurbations on the island. The road also plays host to the island's largest annual festival, the Battle of Flowers. It is the longest stretch of dual carriageway in the Channel Islands. The road has three signalised junctions, one at the eastern end of the road at West Park, one at First Tower and one at Millbrook.
